It is a pleasure to recommend Michael at Peninsula Design and Construction. We just completed a tenant improvement project in San Mateo where he was the general contractor. He gave us a very competitive bid and a timeline we were beyond happy with. From the start of the project until the end, I relied on Michael for everything from making sure all of the work is done in a timely manner to making sure it is of the quality we specified. He was on top of everything and very committed to the project. His subs were great as well and did an awesome job. Michael is very organized and detail-oriented, which is a valuable asset in a contractor. Throughout the project, he was very easy to communicate with and he has a great sense of humor that put me at ease even in tense moments. We interviewed a number of GCs for our project before making the decision to go with Michael and we could not have been happier. Here are a few reasons: 1. Michael cares about you and your project. He is extremely responsive. There were many times where I emailed him at 10 or 11pm and he got back to me immediately. 2. He follows a timeline. Michael told us our project will take 4 months and he finished right on time despite a few challenges (we needed a special drill bit manufactured) and plan changes along the way. Other contractors told us our project would take 6months+ and I am sure many of them would fail to meet that timeline. 3. Michael has a broad connection and list of subcontractors. He maintains a good relationship with them and parallelizes the project as much as possible. At times we had 4-5 different subcontractors on site working at the same time. Many of them worked on Saturday to keep the project on track. 4. Michael is very courteous and funny with great people management skills. He knows how to de-escalate a situation (which will happen in a large project) and will always seek a solution no matter what challenge the project throws at him. Since we were living in the house while the renovation was going on, his crew cleaned the job site every day (yes they literally vacuumed the job site!!) 5. Michael passed all the city inspections on the spot every single time. 6. Michael understands your budget. He does not create unnecessary work. 7. Michael was on site every single day of the job (even on weekends when subcontractors were on site). He drove 30+ miles each way to the job site. This is very rare in our area. 8. Michael has supported us even after the completion of the project. Whenever we need consultation about anything construction related, he did not hesitate to help us. We are very happy with the outcome and also glad we now know Michael as a great friend!
