David Stanley Architects is a London based architectural practice that was founded in 2003. The practice specializes in high quality residential and mixed-use developments. Previous to setting up DSA, David Stanley worked for reputable architectural firms in several major cities including Montreal, Paris and London. During that time he worked on a number of high profile projects on sensitive sites including the European Parliament Building in Strasbourg for Architecture Studio, the London Bankside redevelopment for Allies and Morrison Architects and the London Borough Viaduct redevelopment for Jestico+Whiles Architects. The practice enjoys meeting interesting and complex challenges with innovative, poetic and playful solutions. We believe that life is too short for bad design decisions.

I photographed David Stanley's extension at the back of his home for the Homes and Properties section of the Evening Standard. The finished result is excellent and he is noted for being part of the pioneering low carbon homes movement, which is building momentum in London. The results speak for themselves, a stylish, innovative, eco friendly extension with great interior design features such as a very cool island countertop. A project worthy of press. I thoroughly enjoyed working with David. He is an interesting, friendly guy, and really easy to get along with.

Dave helped us rework the space in our ground floor London flat, moving the kitchen and improving access to the garden. He had some helpful suggestions about improving storage and making use of our high ceilings but limited footprint, and his drawings were invaluable in helping us to communicate with our contractor. Aside from that he was super pleasant to work with, interested in how we used the space and keen to help us use it better.

We worked with David Stanley Architects on a large and complex basement plus full refurbishment in Central London. Dave not only introduced great design elements and innovative materials, he also understood the complexities of managing the builder and client form outset to completion. Highly recommended.

It is always a pleasure working with David as not only he is very efficient, professional, easy to work with and good with the London planning, but also have very good ideas to brighten and making the space look bigger.
