We had the privilege of entrusting John Mathews of Constructive Building with the construction of our home in 2022, and it has been a truly exceptional experience. His transparent communication and unwavering commitment to our best interests provided solace, especially during this trying period. It's worth noting that, contractually, John could have exploited these challenges to his advantage, but he consciously chose not to. This decision exemplified his principled approach and fairness, a rarity in this industry. Now, over six months into residing in our new home, we couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the construction and the exceptional service we received from John. He has earned not only our trust but also the trust of others within our circle. We would eagerly choose to build with John again, knowing that such an experience is truly one in a million. We love our newly renovated home. The renovation exceeded all of our hopes, and much of that is due to the experience and expertise of John. John listened carefully to our needs, then came up with a solution. He guided us through all parts of the process. We always felt supported and were confident that John was working for our interests. In addition to John’s own high level of skill, the tradespeople that John engaged were very professional and provided a high quality of workmanship. Importantly to us, they were also always respectful. One of John’s main strengths is in problem solving the inevitable glitches that occur when working with an older house that had previously been extended a number of times. John searched for the best solution, working closely with us to make sure we understood the implications. The solutions were often even better than the original plan, and collectively they are responsible for the liveability we now enjoy. We would have no hesitation in using John again and in recommending him to others.

Although we got some lower quotes, we decided to build with John because we saw the quality of our friends’ renovation, and he gave us a good impression from the outset. Throughout the process, John was easy to get in contact with, and he called regularly to keep us in the loop. John was also really transparent with costs, his trade subcontractors were easy to deal with, and he regularly sent us pictures of the site. There were a couple of minor installation issues with finishes, but John ensured every item was rectified, even when it involved a bit of complexity getting various trades back to reinstall and patch things up. Now living in the end result, we are very happy we decided to build with John. The quality of the build is outstanding, John made the process smooth, and he was committed to getting every detail just right even after we’d moved in. We would definitely build with John again.

Right from the start he was mindful of the disruptive impact of the work on our lifestyle. He planned his schedule and co-ordinated his sub-contractors to minimize the disruption and ensure we were without a kitchen for the shortest possible time. We were very impressed. John was recommended to us via word-of-mouth for his high quality work and the way he 'looks after' his clients. Our job was an extension/renovation to an existing 1970's style house to add on an upstairs master bedroom and ensuite. We wanted something that both blended with and modernised the existing structure. John pretty much guided us through entire the building process and we couldn't be happier with the results. Hi John, We wanted to put on paper just how grateful we are for the outstanding extension you have made to our home. Every morning when we walk into our new kitchen we marvel at the end result. Our brief was to give light and open up a dark ground floor, extending the inside living out and the results have ticked ALL those boxes with exceptional attention to detail. The entire building process from initial planning right through to completion was professionally managed and ran without any major problems. Unexpected issues were dealt with, with due diligence. During all stages of construction, we knew that we could trust you to keep things running to plan with very clear communication. You took the time to give concise explanations along the way and made it clear how additional steps could be of benefit to us. You were readily available to us around the clock and showed great foresight of a reputable and experienced builder in planning, design and proficiency of your trade. From the outset the stages were clearly identified to us and indicative of the cost and scope of works. As Project Managers we admired the process and organisation, management and control you demonstrated in our project right through to compliance and certification. At days end the site was always complete and functional to a level for us to maintain being able to live on site throughout the process. Again, thank you for undertaking our extension.
