If you are looking for a design firm, Christian Oberhauser is the best of the best. Christian guided us every step of the way through a transformative remodel of our condo in Sausalito, CA. We changed absolutely everything — room architecture, cabinets, appliances, fixtures, flooring, furniture — there was no aspect of our home that was left untouched. Christian was thoughtful about every single detail and he brought us along so we understood things like how the height of sofa legs impacts the perception of room size, how the re-placement of stairs can open up a room, and how color choices change the feeling you have when transitioning from one room to another. Thanks to Christian, we now have a bright, modern home that we are very proud of. Most of the neighbors in our HOA have the same aesthetic and layout we had prior to our remodel. Almost all of them have visited us post-remodel and said “WOW. I want my home to look like this!” No one can believe the transformation Christian made. The process of working with Christian was delightful. He listened intently, positioned options in a way that made it easy to decide, and respectfully pressure-tested our decisions if he felt we were veering off-course (said another way, he kept us from making choices that we would later regret :). He met us at our home and at design centers around Marin County, always at the times that worked best for our schedule. When we were out of town, he came to our house to check in on work being done to ensure it was up to his standards. Christian’s impact spans far beyond the remodel itself. He has shaped the way we see design and made our home a source of pride and happiness. We now have a beautiful space where we can re-charge, build our confidence when we have a bad day, host our friends, and connect as a family. We can’t imagine making any design changes to an important space without Christian’s help. We will be lifelong clients.

I could not be happier with my decision to engage Mr. Oberhauser. He is a class act. His taste is flawless. His use of dimensional space is superb. His bookkeeping is impeccable. Christian drafted architectural class drawings for the contractor and the city planner for permitting. He has a great repertoire of sources and made it possible for me to purchase a coveted piece from Italy at a reasonable price. Mine was a very difficult remodel, but Christian took it on with poise and good humor, helping me to manage many areas of the project that a designer would not necessarily be asked to do. I will ask Christian to do all my work in the future.

We met talented Christian about two years ago at a cabin he remodeled in South Lake Tahoe. The mix of modern and functional with warm and welcoming wood and design accents immediately caught our attention. When we built our own 3200 sqft house on the river in South Lake Tahoe, we had the pleasure to consult with Christian. Besides having a convincing sense of style Christian is skilled architecturally and is very knowledgeable when it comes to practicalities of drawing his own plans and constructing a house. He takes great pride in his work, stays highly interested and truly cares, while he communicates superbly well with the owner, the architect and trades people alike. Christian is a breath of fresh air and it's exciting to work with him and we feel lucky we benefited from his flair and guidance. I have seen a hotel project he has completed on a budget and he is now involved in a luxury remodel in the commercial area of South Lake Tahoe. While most of his projects are very high-end in Marin and the Bay Area, Christian is used to manage different types of projects, adjusting to the owner's budgets and goals. I am very excited to see more of his cutting edge influence in South Lake Tahoe and around the lake, and will recommend him highly to any of my business contacts and friends alike!

Christian was a recommended designer when we were interviewing different contractors. When we met him, we immediately felt comfortable and confident in his talents. We described our thoughts for our home remodel and gave him our "wish list." He returned with preliminary plans that had many great solutions that had never even crossed our minds. (In the end, we incorporated all of his ideas, as they all provided better and more elegant solutions than we could come up with.) The master en suite turned out to be amazing. My husband was particularly pleased with his attention to structural changes and considerations (Christian is not merely a superficial maker over designer. He had thorough plans for electrical, plumbing and structural changes.) He was diligent about working within our budget, and found ways to save money in some aspects so we could put the money where it really counted. He worked well with our contractor and arranged for our tile, hardware, and lighting. Overall, we can't find anything negative when it comes to our project with Christian. He is thoughtful, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Christian originally chose WarmlyYours floor heating, for his own home. He has been a consistent advocate of our systems ever since. As a faithful client, he insists on only the highest quality for himself, and his clients. His work is nothing short of fantastic! A most welcome addition to our client family!
