Our Victorian townhouse in Berlin came with a 1920s woodburning stove, so beautiful. I wanted to give my husband some fire tools as a housewarming gift but didn‘t know where to start. Charles was so generous with advice, photos and ideas. This was a tiny project, but he gave it full attention. The purchased tools are beautiful and useful, the perfect present!

As other reviewers have said - unbelievable quick shipping - great communication from Charles and items are exactly as described. Do not hesitate to purchase from this exceptional shop. Stores in the US would do well to emulate his customer service model. We just finished kitchen and I can not believe how well it turned out. My fireback was 95lbs and I had a steel cleat welded on the back so there were no worries about mounting.

Charles was extremely knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble. Lots of advice on how to install the fireback we bought and also on how to reduce the risk of a smoking fireplace. He organised the transport to the UK - surprisingly reasonable - and it was delivered within 2 days of ordering in perfect condition. The beautiful 1790 cast iron fireback now graces a large inglenook in a house of the same age. Wonderful.

Quick and reliable service to the U.S. I couldn't believe how soon I received this beautiful fire screen from Charles at Fireplace Antiques. I ordered this on a Saturday night from the Netherlands, and by Thurs morning it was on my doorstep in the U.S. in perfect condition. It was packaged properly and looked just as it was described. Charles emailed me as soon as I placed my order with contact info in case I had questions or concerns, and followed up to say it had shipped and that I should see it in a couple of days. I thought he was mistaken, that he hadn't realized I was overseas. Much to my surprise he was right. I have searched throughout the US for 2 years for a similar piece with no luck, so I was happy to find a business in Europe that has such beautiful antiques for reasonable prices and trustworthy service. I feel blessed to have found the perfect compliment to the brass antiques in my living room and a unique piece that I will enjoy for a lifetime.

I love their log holders. I ordered two in the past year. Their delivery is expedient and on time. The condition of the antique brass is fabulous. The log holders are very charming. I would highly recommend this company.

I have made two purchases from Charles Nijman. My first was an antique fire basket for my house in France two years and ago and more recently an antique fire back for my house in the UK. I found the website very easy to navigate with very good photographs. Ordering online was simple. A confirmation email followed shortly after with delivery details and tracking number. My delivery arrived within a couple of days. A follow-up email asking if I was happy with my purchases. I am extremely happy with both the basket and fireback and I would buy from him again.
