Carolina Green Building

My barn project started in February. It was supposed to be a three week project, start to finish. I am now at eight weeks. I have fired Carolina Green Building not only for the extreme delay in time (and trust me, I expressed the sense of urgency before we ever started) but also for shoddy work. My barn is 5" out of square and 2" out of level. They had to have noticed it was out of square when they set the beams and definitely when they set the trusses. No one said a word. When they finally began installing the metal on the roof the barn being out of square caused the metal to run completely crazy with the edge being out on each piece anywhere from 1/2" to 1 1/2". Believe it or not they intended to leave it that way. When they installed the first piece of metal on the peak they realized they had ordered the metal too short by 11". There was a 5" gap where the metal wasn't even touching the shed row metal which would've caused my barn to leak like crazy. I was told it was a delay on the supply house, in actuality they were covering their selves so they wouldn't have to eat all of the metal expense because it should've been taken off and ordered again. Then there's the concrete. My 13 year old daughter could have done a better job pouring the concrete. Not only is it the sloppiest pour I've ever seen (and the three contractors that have looked at it agree) but there is a 6 1/2" slope on the concrete from the back door to the front. No, I never requested any slope much less 6 1/2"! This means the stall doors and personnel doors wouldn't open all the way, they would swing part of the way and hit the floor. My big horse stall components that bolt to the floor would've had to lean 1" to the right and would have never fit together to be bolted. THEN when they began stripping the walls for metal and framing in the windows they measured from the floor up, not from the beams down, so every single board and every window is running downhill at a 6 1/2" slope. You can look at the boards and clearly see it. I'm having to remove every board and window to correct it. They also pulled a permit on this job but never called for any inspections. This is just a sampling of the crappy work. Eight weeks and a whole lot of money later and I have a structure that should be torn down to the ground and started over. I'm now absorbing the cost of fixing all of this which includes re-pouring every inch of the concrete. I had a face to face meeting with two of the owners (Robbie Sutton and Perry Lewis) the Monday after they were fired. No one had any explanation, no solution was offered, only excuses.

I hired them to replace two 24 year old skylights. They did a great job, and cleaned up after they finished. I would hire them again. The pricing was fair as well.

Very professional , Thomas was extremely cordial and easy to work with. I am hiring them to do more work for us. Waiting on their call right now.
