My husband and I so enjoyed working with the team at Buccellato Design in renovating our Cliff May-inspired 1950 ranch in Sonoma County, California. We’ve always loved the home, but it required significant updating and reorganization, which Buccellato Design completed in two phases of work, including decoration and landscaping. Buccellato Design undertook the renovation of both of our bathrooms and the complete renovation and expansion of the kitchen, mudroom and laundry. A study and bar were added, in addition to a wonderful breakfast nook which we love, just adjacent to the kitchen. We were so pleased at the way Buccellato Design approached our project, thoughtfully enhancing and modernizing our house and, as importantly, finding clever ways to reorganize the layout of the house to take much greater advantage of our fabulous views to the wine country valley and vineyards below our property. They were able to reconfigure rooms and window locations within the existing footprint of the house, too, a tactic that saved us considerable cost. The experience working with Kevin and Aimee was always gratifying, and we would recommend the firm whole-heartedly to anyone interested in a sensitive, timeless alteration or new home.

We worked with Aimee and Kevin Buccellato on our project to redesign our outdoor living areas. Overall, we could not recommend them highly enough. More specifically, they helped redesign a three-seasons patio and then figured out a way to combine it around the back of our home with another patio area. They also designed a beautiful portico to walk from our back door to our garage. All of it fit perfectly into the design of our 1929 vintage Tudor-style home in an Historic District in South Bend, Indiana. They were able to quickly and accurately understand what we wanted and designed it in a way that was architecturally appropriate and in style with our home. At the same time, they deftly addressed challenging elements, such as the placement of our kitchen window, the ways our doorways lined up and the way that the portico roof had to span a brick archway. We have worked with Buccellato Design for the past three years to design, build and decorate our home, and there is no doubt that they are masters at their art. Kevin and Aimee bring 20+ years of experience, extensive academic training from the leading classical architecture programs in the country, and an unwavering commitment to timeless, quality, appropriate architecture to each project. The experience and process of designing, building and decorating our home with Buccellato Design was enjoyable and smooth, and produced an outcome beyond our expectations. This was our first endeavor in designing a home, and while we had strong feelings for what we wanted our home to convey, we had no experience in actually making it a reality. The Buccellatos not only listened to us as we described the kind of home and atmosphere that we wanted to create, but they patiently and meticulously captured our vision, which was often in bits and pieces, and at the end of the design process presented us with a complete, articulate, stunning set of plans that exceeded what we could have hoped for. Every detail of our home, from the most insignificant to the greatest, was considered, evaluated and planned for. From design to construction to decoration BD demonstrated a masterful understanding of each material in our home; the texture and feel, durability, appropriateness, how the material would fit with the whole scope of the home, what it would communicate, and how it would age. Their communication with us throughout the entire design and building process, whether responding to a question or providing a progress update, was professional, consistent and detailed. They also worked within the budget we had originally set. The presence of BD on site during the eighteen+ month process of building the home was invaluable. If we had never been able to step foot on site during construction it would not have been a problem, as BD and their team monitored progress on literally every inch of the home, sent regular status updates and photos, and caught any mistakes made by contractors. In our case, we actually were limited in our ability to be on site as I was on bed rest for seven months during the construction and decorating phase. Many of our friends who have built homes have told us that they needed to be on site multiple times a week, checking for mistakes and ensuring appropriate progress; for us this was not an option with my medical limitations. BD and their team didn't miss a beat, monitoring and ensuring progress and quality during this time. The final product of our home, which did not suffer in the least from our inability to be regularly on site, is a testament to their meticulous administration. The team at Buccellato Design are a delight to work with, as professionals and as individuals who are the epitome of class and quality. Every person who has stepped into our home has been astounded by the quality, character, warmth and detail that our home exudes.
