Borrelli Design+Cabinetry

Mike Borrelli starts out with a creative vision that no one else would see. It’s all there in his brain until it spills out on paper and in samples of eucalyptus wood, glossy laminates, sumptuous appliances and cool countertops. And then you see it, too! Our 100-year-old loft in the Soap Factory needed a contemporary kitchen facelift with an artistic zing. Visible from the entire ground floor, the kitchen had a starring role. We love it. It’s gorgeous, one-of-a-kind and unlike the pervasive white and gray model kitchens in the downtown condo buildings. In addition, The team was sensitive to our need to live in the home while they were working. So, much of the work was done in-shop to minimize the disruption for us. Every person on our project was professional, expert in his craft, kind, respectful of our ideas and fun!

We were very happy with the built in for our living room. Stephen worked with us to design a great piece that fits our house perfectly.

Donna was easy to work with. She was always in contact with us either by phone or email. She came to our home to look at our kitchen so we could discuss her ideas and our ideas plus take measurements. We love the cabinet design and the varied colored counter top styles she chose. We looked for a vendor to build a custom cabinet to house our media equipment. We found Borrelli on the Internet and we're thrilled when they offered to take on our very small project. Working with Donna was a pleasure. Despite it just being a simple a cabinet, she and the Borrelli team came up with more than a few minor tweaks to my initial design to make the finished cabinet go from good, to a really great custom piece of furniture. It is amazing what a talented designers like Donna and the Borrelli team can do. Oh, and the qualit of construction was flawless.

We met with Donna at Borrelli Design before purchasing a new stove for our limited space kitchen. One of the challenges was to minimize changes to the workspace other than to replace the appliance. Donna was meticulous with her calculations and offered me several ideas with regard to the storage areas. Without her attention to detail the project could have gone terribly wrong as we literally had no wiggle room with regard to the fit of the oven. I chuckle when I look at how tight a fit it is. I had my heart set on a new, beautiful, yellow, Blue Star oven and Donna made it work. Its the showpiece of my kitchen and I am still surprised at how many people notice that I have a new oven. Its a bright spot in the room and looks like it was custom built. Could not be happier with Donna and Borrelli. Thank you!

I hired Borelli to do my kitchen cabinetry with a passable kitchen plan from my architect. What transpired was a redesigning of the space in a more open, contemporary design which is what I really wanted but didn't have the confidence or courage to do on my own. I didn't initially understand that I had access to such a wonderful resource in Donna as part of the kitchen cabinetry design. Donna is in-house design for Borelli and taking cues from the stone I had selected as a starting point , mid century architecture, and preferences she designed a beautiful kitchen for me. I took advantage of her expertise in the connecting areas of entryway and hallways because they had an integral visual impact on the kitchen area. She helped with the selection of pulls and knobs, front door hardware, wood species, grain and color of the cabinetry materials, barstools, light fixtures, and participated in the development of our unique blend of terrazzo flooring. In addition, she interfaced with dealers and manufacturers and responded to my questions and concerns quickly. She is a pleasure to work with, quietly confident and soft spoken.

Here is my experience. A retainer was signed in August and I was promised that the drawings would be completed not later than the end of September/October which is a timeline that I relied on. However, I did not receive final plans until Dec 19th which delayed the kitchen remodel by two months. Revisions are to be expected which are a normal part of the process. It appears that the design program they were using was difficult, and measurements needed to be continuously corrected. These issues were enormously frustrating for all of us. Today the kitchen is beautiful, and all things being equal, the cabinets cost half of what Borrelli charged.
