We found Designsmith Spaces to be an excellent company in so many aspects. They were extremely knowledgeable about design ideas, types and quality of products in the market, and possibilities we hadn't considered regarding services. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything they had a hand in doing. They were prompt with a cabinet that needed replacing and were always easy to get in touch with. They are awesome.

Several years ago my wife and I engaged Dallas to do extensive remodeling of our home in Oak Park. Although we had re-modeled our home in the past on a limited basis, we had never used a design professional before. We started out on a small scale asking Mr. Smith to just re-design the lighting in our family room. After we saw what he could do with a single room, however, we decided to enlarge his assignment and re-design other areas of the house. We never regretted that decision. His attention to detail, his oversight of the construction, and his selection of the colors or materials were all excellent and far beyond what we could have accomplished on our own. After the work was done, it felt like a brand new house. The design improvements increased the overall value of the house. More importantly—although we have no plans to move as it is far too comfortable here-the design changes certainly improved our chances of selling the house someday if we ever decide to move. If you have no expertise in the area of design and do not relish the prospect of spending your week-ends paging through endless brochures and catalogs, we highly recommend engaging Dallas Smith for all your design needs. In fact, we just asked Dallas to come back this year and do additional work.

He created a great room addition for my first floor unit and redesigned the existing space to give me a second bedroom and bath. People entering the great room addition have literally gasped at how lovely it is. He took my desire for lots of light and a high airy space and created a great room that meets those desires. In 2008, we were presented with an opportunity to acquire the adjacent condo and double our footprint. We needed someone to help us integrate and redesign the entire space. Dallas Smith was the expert who moved walls and created a new, functional, and efficient floor plan. He then created a spectacular ambiance that is beautiful yet comfortable, even after 10 years of use. The quality of the fixtures, appliances and furnishings that he helped us select have withstood the test of time and our condo continues to look new and bright. Dallas did a wonderful job of helping us take advantage of a great opportunity and we enjoy it every day.

Our local contractor referred us to Dallas Smith when we decided to update our kitchen. Dallas came out to look at our kitchen and talk to us about what we were looking for in our new kitchen. He then did a design sending us both a floor plan and virtual pictures that helped showcase the design in materials that were similar to what I had told him that I had in mind. We were surprised at the way he changed things around (such as moving the sink) and we had the kitchen built as he designed it. The design is so practical and livable. My Kitchen always gets compliments by those who see it.

We are thrilled with the Designsmithspaces remodel of a bathroom in our vintage home. Before we began, the space was cramped and the storage limited. Now the room feels much larger, it looks great and meets our needs beautifully, and we have so much useful storage. After listening to what we wanted, Dallas offered us an array of designs, each of which was better than what we’d imagined was possible. During the process, Dallas and Betsy made everything go smoothly. Job completed—we couldn’t be happier.
