Bcompact Sustainable Design Compact Living

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. I hired Bcompact to make a staircase in my home in California. I found this company to be unreasonable and difficult to work with. They inappropriately charged me over $600 but never delivered any staircase to me. SCAM! Bcompacy asked me for several measurements and specs within my house before building my staircase, and I provided the company all measurements that they asked for. Bcompact then asked me for a large deposit prior to "going into production". I made the large deposit, expecting to receive a staircase. Then, Bcompact emails me a very complicated sheet of engineering and they tell me I need to verify all numbers and data on the page before they can make my staircase. They tell me that I need to approve all the technical drawings and engineering on the sheet, making me solely responsible if the staircase doesn't fit properly. I explained to Bcompact I am neither an engineer or a contractor, and frankly I didn't know what any of the numbers meant on the technical drawings they provided me. Bcompact told me that if I didn't approve all the technical drawings and take liability for those numbers, then they wouldn't make my staircase. Bcompact cancelled the order, because I refused to take ownership and responsibility for approving numbers/engineering on technical drawings that I didn't understand. Bcompact kept a large chunk of my money, offering me only a partial refund and never made my staircase. What a joke of a company.

Zev was great. We found him by way of his design, but his service was meticulous & thorough. Happy to recommend him to anyone wanting a quality, sustainable piece.

The Dom Task Lamp designed and created by Zev Bianchi, Bcompact design is an elegant long arm of bamboo which functions as a very effective reading light. Two rows of multiple LED lights which sit without almost being noticed in the extended arm like small studs in an ear are barely visible and almost only obvious when alight. The Aliminium base from which the arm extends and is supported is light and easy to move. The generous length of the arm allows the light to be easily and only slightly moved in order to provide an effective reading light away from where the lamp is positioned. Although bright and strong when directly under the LED lights, they produce a soft light in a room which is in no way obtrusive. I have come to consider this wonderful lamp as a piece of sculpture.

Zev designed a modern interpretation of an English Gentlemen's wardrobe for an entry in our apartment and I couldn't be happier with the result. The thought and attention to detail he put into the project is outstanding and the results speak for themselves. He came up with an ingenious way of hinging the doors to maximise ease of access and the craftsmanship is truly outstanding. We wanted a wardrobe to house bulky coats and shoes, but needed to limit the depth of the wardrobe to around 400mm so that it wouldn't intrude into the space too much and Zev's clever design found a perfect solution. He was pleasant to deal with, the whole process was very easy, he was responsive to queries and ultimately produced an outstanding piece of furniture that we will enjoy for many years to come. I highly recommend his work.

Zev is a talented designer and craftsperson. The table he built for us is beautiful and he was a pleasure to deal with.

Zev is a consumate professional. He listened carefully to our design brief and responded with a range of interesting designs. As client, I felt very confident in his ability. I felt like the design process with him was a really interesting, collaborative and creative process. We are delighted with the shelving, lighting and entrance screen he designed for us. His work is beautifully designed and executed. We highly and willingly recommend him and his work.

Zen Designed and built or the bar top benches for my wine bar fit out. His skills, knowledge and product are all outstanding and I have recommended him to many people since opening in September.

Sprung Christmas Tree : I saw it, loved it, wanted it. I carried my 2 metre tree to the airport in a package 1250mmx50mm weighing just a few kilo. I opened it thousands of airmiles away, in perfect condition. Beautifully made, easy and quick to assemble/disassemble. An elegant, impressive, natural timber tree. The winkles twinkle as it gently spins. Vaguely hypnotic, certainly relaxing. Close inspection reveals significant design input behind the apparent simplicity. Presents can be piled within the spread of the base. Happily slotted back into its box, slipped between a wall and the back of the sofa ( until next Christmas) Of high quality and highly recommended.
