We were very excited to have Avant-Price build our home, but now, 5 months later we are filled with regret. We have a laundry list of things wrong with the house. Before we even moved in, the concrete driveway was already cracked, the back patio followed suit about a month later. The patio did not have any stress relief, so it cracked in about 6 different places. The patio is sloping. Inside we immediately had plumbing issues, central vacuum issues, the downgraded windows we paid extra for were scratched up, the wood look ceramic planks were warped, but installed. Cracking in our travertine tiles has begun by the front door and in the pantry, this tile we paid an upgraded fee for was also scratched up upon inspection and their fix was a sealant. There is a crack in ceiling by the back door, dryer was vented with a bathroom vent, bathroom/bedroom doors were cut at the bottom and not sanded - one is uneven. Sink fixtures loose, patio gas fireplace had a leak for months, nails driven through cabinets in almost every room, screws in cabinet knobs splintered cabinet, air handler vent is undersized, tile that was installed in showers is uneven, tile in master has 2 chunks missing, grout work sloppy and uneven, granite work in kitchen sloppy (glue at seems, filled in holes, chipping), appliance books missing, dishwasher was broken - had to call warranty immediately. Wrap around bar has a crack, some entrances did not have a light switch, paint overspray on window vinyl, electrical problems (turn on fan and lights flicker). The concrete driveway/patio installers splashed concrete on surrounding brick, so they pressure sprayed this and now the top layer of some brick is missing. Front door was stained inconsistently (no stain at bottom, uneven elsewhere). When they cleared the trees in the back they purposely did not clear trees where we had talked about a possible garage, leaving it up to us. Any of their other properties has a nice squared back yard. I know things go wrong, but this is beyond that. The warranty dept is slow to react, if they react at all. Garage door opening is sagging. Some things have been fixed, but some have been ignored. There are a couple things I did not get installed from the spec sheet, they claimed this was a mistake, but my lawyer says we both signed, and it's a legal document and a work in progress. We believe the builder has too much on his plate and can't possibly give the attention to detail these subcontractors require. In the end we trusted them to do the right thing, and they did not always do that. We believe they are out to make a buck as quickly and cheaply as possible. He/they could not even apologize. Would never recommend them based on this experience.
