Atherton Appliance & Kitchens

I have written only a handful of reviews in my life. When either the service was so extraordinary that it necessitates acknowledgement and when the service is so horrific that others must be made aware. Unfortunately, this falls into the latter category. Our initial experience with Atherton Appliance was fantastic. The show room is absolutely beautiful. The staff who assisted us was equally wonderful. They were knowledgable and helpful in comparing products without being pushy. We subsequently purchased over $35,000 in kitchen and other appliances for an extensive remodel. We were and are thrilled with our purchases. Unfortunately, there needs to be service after the sale. We choose to have Atherton Appliance do the installation because it added a year to the warranty. This is where the story becomes an incredible nightmare. Trying to get them to schedule and work with us on the instillation was insane. We purchased the products in June and planned installation for October. They could not work with our contractor to coordinate. They would NOT RETURN CALLS. They attempted to delay installation by over 2 weeks despite multiple calls. Our contractor ultimately picked up the appliances and did the installation to keep the project on time. We paid Atherton over $2,500 for instillation in advance to install all of the purchased appliances. The contractor performed the instillation in late October. We have been trying to get a refund on the $2,500 in instillation charges paid up front and to date been unsuccessful. Calls are not returned. Management's attempts to discuss have been rude and unsuccessful. Specifically, the manager Chris Papageorge. This is NOT THE LEVEL OF SERVICE one expects from a high end luxury applaince retailer. I continue to be shocked by their response and lack of interest in resolution. We, our contractor, our remodeling friends, nor anyone with expectations of quality service should consider purchasing their appliances through them. As an interior designer, I love working with Atherton Appliance. I do a lot of kitchen remodels and have been using them for the past few years. I either refer my clients to work directly with Atherton or sometimes I purchase for them myself. Not only do they offer competitive pricing, they are always responsive and reliable with all the technical information I need. On this project order in particular, there was a big mishap with a custom designed hood which caused a lengthy delay. However, Chris & Elmer made right by my clients and handled it so impeccably, these homeowners proclaimed they will now be lifelong clients of Atherton... and I will too! Competitive pricing is one thing-- but follow-thru and excellent customer service is priceless.

bought a hood from them, needed it by a certain date. It was delayed, which is fine but they ignored my calls for 2 weeks when I was asking for revised delivery information. I had to threaten to call my credit card company before they responded finally. Then they refunded my money. Raul the salesman was very rude and if you expect customer service go elsewhere. They wasted my time, not only did I not get a hood, I wasted 3 weeks with these guys. If you think you are paying extra for customer service, you will be sadly mistaken.

Petros at Atherton Appliance is a genius of kitchen design. He developed a design for me that was beyond my expectations and as my daughter said is the most beautiful kitchen she has ever seen. He is able to translate the client’s vision into reality. He is a perfectionist and has incredible attention to detail and will work on the design until it is just right. Many people can do kitchen design but Petros’work is on another level. His design is refined and elegant while being innovative and edgy. Someone can incorporate a lot of expensive elements but there are many components and tiny details of color and texture and finishes and proportion that are important in order to make the final product look amazing. That is what Petros can do. He is one of a kind. In addition when we had a problem with our dishwasher Atherton Appliance changed it out for a more expensive model and corrected the cabinet at their expensive. This was outstanding service and definitely not expected. Nicole is also very kind and service oriented and returns concerns promptly. I just took a picture from today. I would highly recommend Petros at Atherton Appliance for any major kitchen remodel.

Atherton Appliances and Kitchens is a wonderful company to work with. We have done at least 5 Downsview kitchens, the product is excellent, and our clients love it. It is a pleasure working with them, they always deliver on time and provide excellent design support. Nicole and Petros are great to work with and always so kind. We look forward to our next kitchen being a Downsview from Ahterton Appliance & Kitchens.

We purchased Downsview kitchen cabinets and all appliances, kitchen sinks, and faucets from Atherton Appliance & Kitchens in Redwood City. We couldn't be happier with their service, support and follow-up. Petros helped us with the design; he was great in every way. He was patient, helpful and knowledgeable. It took many revisions of the design until we got to the final version that was within our budget and served our needs. Petros never showed signs of being impatient or that it is taking too long to make decisions. He was understanding and supportive throughout the process. Then we worked with Elmer from the appliances department. He is very knowledgeable and could recommend the right appliances for our needs and budget. We got a good deal by doing both cabinets and appliances with Atherton. After moving in, we had a problem with the refrigerator; Elmer took control of the situation and got it replaced. This is a family-owned and family-run business, and it shows very clearly in everything they do - taking a personal interest in our tastes and needs, coordinating all the components of the kitchen to fit together and ensuring our satisfaction. On a couple of occasions there were problems with items from their suppliers, they stepped in and got the replacements we needed. We definitely recommend Atherton Appliance and will use them again.

As an architecture and interior design firm we love working with Atherton Appliance! They are responsive, reliable, and a real team player on every project. We work closely with Atherton to ensure appliances we select with our clients will work well in our designs. Atherton's experts are always available with the technical information we need. And we know that when we refer our clients to them, they will get great service.

had the an enjoyable experience designing my new kitchen and purchasing appliances through Atherton. I worked with Petros to design my new kitchen and to choose the cabinetry. Petros was extremely detailed and asked the right questions to get me thinking about my design and details. He sketched a couple floor plans to show me how I can maximize the space of my kitchen. I was impressed with how much he really cared that I liked the design and layout. He was personable so I didn't feel like just another design appointment. He is also was very knowledgeable about the cabinetry options - the durability, lifetime, type of wood, etc. which helped me narrow to the style I bought since I had no real cabinetry options in mind prior to walking into the store. Chris assisted me with choosing all my appliances. I wanted to stay within a budget but still buy "nice" appliances. Chris was not pushy and when I told him my budget, he did not try to sell me the most expensive item as I had experienced from other appliance stores. Chris is very knowledgeable and was patient with me as I asked many questions about the products. He also asked me questions about features that I like in a product, such as water and ice dispenser on the outside of the refrigerator, to help me narrow in on the right products for me.

I remodeled my kitchen with Atherton Appliances. Petros and Nicole were great throughout the process (and beyond). Petros was very patient, creative and detail oriented and everything turned out like I had imagined it. The independent installer, Mike, whom Petros and Nicole recommended is also great. Everyone is very responsive and a pleasure to work with.

I remodeled my kitchen with Atherton Appliance. From the design of the kitchen cabinetry to the purchase of the appliances – Atherton was there for me. When it came to the cabinets, I worked with Petros Papageorge, who took my newly architected space and created an amazing kitchen cabinet design. Petros worked magic on his computer, moving cabinets around, changing doors to drawers, modifying the flow of the overall kitchen, etc., and I could see the whole thing come to life in front of my very eyes. Then, after I thought I had everything just where I wanted it, Petros worked with a 3D artist to do a rendering of my soon-to-be kitchen, including the finishes I chose, even down to the lights and barstools I was considering adding in the kitchen. The 3D rendering was invaluable as I was able to use it to shop for paint colors, fixtures, etc. I purchased all my appliances from Atherton as well. My sales rep, Elmer, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful (and patient with all my questions). Nicole kept me informed every step of the way on delivery of both the cabinets and the appliances. At the end of the day I wanted a modern and elegant kitchen – the team at Atherton Appliance made my wish come true. Bottom line – remodeling a kitchen can be a stressful situation for some, but my experience at Atherton was fantastic. I highly recommend them.

We had the most rewarding experience possible working with Atherton Appliances when we remodeled our home. Atherton helped us design our kitchen and two bathrooms, all of which turned out beautifully. We purchased all our kitchen cabinets and appliances as well as bathroom cabinets from Atherton. Everyone who has seen our kitchen and bathrooms has commented about the superb design work and chosen appliances. We feel so fortunate to have worked with Bela Villongco and Petros Papageorge. Both Bela and Petros were a joy to work with. They are both professional, knowledgeable, experienced, helpful, patient and go that extra mile to provide excellent customer service and valuable advice. We can't say enough positive things about them! Our experience with Atherton was extraordinary and delightful! We have very high standards and Atherton met and exceeded them.
