Our mission at AK Design is to improve people's lifestyles. We work on projects of all sizes from small to large renovations. Aseel Khalil is a designer and professor at Sheridan College. Born in Baghdad, traveled throughout the Middle East, she moved to Toronto in the 1990s. Her work is inspired by architecture and civilization as well as the modern world. These visual influences are seen in her work through the use of color contrast, textures, pattern and her passion for antiques and ceramic art. Her style is eclectic, mixing classic with a fine touch of contemporary. She can work all different types of styles as well to best accommodate her clients wants and needs. My personal design philosophy statement Design is personal and emotional. It’s a vision of what’s right for the future. Being a designer should reflect my core values that define who I am in any project I take. Leaving a signature that reflects my values and creativity in restoring building fabric. Being responsible designer, leaving an impact in your community, and educating for global change is rewarding. Design should be uplifting and tell a story with a belief that there is a strong relationship between the outside environment and our wellbeing. Through the biophilic approach, we can create an extraordinary design that has a timeless quality and incorporates sustainable solutions. Good design can heal the mind, body, and soul. The design is functional; a unique tool to influence change and growth. Transforming and enhancing the built environment and being aware of client’s cultural beliefs and background experience are essential for capturing a deeper understanding of their lifestyle.
