The Brumby Chair Company

Since 1875, Brumby® Jumbo Rockers have adorned American porches of large antebellum homes, sprawling verandas of luxury resorts, and The Truman Balcony of the White House. Made with the same care and to the 19th century specifications, this collector’s item carries the seal of the original Brumby Chair Company of Marietta, Georgia. Believed to be the oldest product in Georgia still in production, the historic Brumby® Jumbo Rocker is made from solid Appalachian Red Oak. The extra tall back posts are steam-bent to cradle the back and curve around the shoulders allowing for added comfort. Custom cut 36” runners are carefully bent to prevent tipping over and to ensure an even rock. Runners are attached with solid brass carriage bolts for added strength. Brumby® Rockers are assembled using hand wedged techniques allowing the wood to give with the change in temperature for indoor and outdoor durability. Using cane from the Orient, the seat and back are still expertly hand-woven in a tight, herringbone pattern. This century old southern classic is the epitome of craftsmanship, comfort and elegance. Tradition has it that you had to work two weeks to buy a Brumby® Rocker, but once you had it, you had it for life. Passed down from generation to generation, a Brumby® Rocker is more than a rocking chair, it’s a legacy. It’s one of America’s last heirlooms.
