We just took possession of a new Albi home in Artesia at Heritage Pointe after about a year of design and construction. We were initially attracted to Albi because of the consistently high quality interior design of their show homes in several different Calgary area neighbourhoods. We opted for Artesia because of the demographic and our ability to secure a ridge lot overlooking the Bow River.
The Artesia Community Manager has a design background and was able to extensively customize the standard Carrara 2 design we liked to include an expanded footprint, a two bedroom guest loft above the garage. a roughed in elevator shaft and a custom quilt studio in the lower level. Albi's interior designers were good but focussed on individual areas such as kitchens, lighting or flooring. We relied most extensively on Lush Interiors, our own independent designers, to handle decoration and coordinate everything.
Construction proceeded as scheduled and while we had some issues and changes from both sides, Albi proved responsive to our concerns and always addressed the problems. The trades people and subcontractors Albi employed were good. Perhaps one of the advantages of building in a downturn is that not all of the best trades people were running off to Ft McMurray.
After we moved in, the construction supervisor was particularly helpful in addressing the inevitable small issues that arose. We just completed our 90 day post possession walkthrough and Albi even addressed some small oversights like towel rack placement that we missed on our initial layout.
All in all, Albi is a well managed, quality builder with good people at all levels. We are happy with our decision to go with them.
