Maggie Walker of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Frederick, MD, in collaboration with Tri State Home Improvement, designed multiple rooms for this project. This remodel included the kitchen, pantry, mudroom and laundry room, highlighting a transitional design style and featuring both Green Forest Cabinetry and Masterpiece Cabinetry. The kitchen, mudroom and laundry room feature Green Forest Cabinetry in the Park Place door style with an Espresso finish. The pantry showcases Masterpiece cabinets in the Turner door style in Maple with a Peppercorn finish. The kitchen also includes MSI Q Peppercorn White countertops, while the pantry and laundry room feature Colonial White granite countertops. Despite the challenges of being without a kitchen sink, laundry machines and undergoing the installation of new flooring, the clients expressed that the remodeling process was worthwhile, with beautiful results. “The best advice Maggie gave was to take our time. We had never done a renovation or remodel and this was massive to us. She gave us time to sit with our choice and make changes. The size is the best part of the new kitchen. This twin home was the perfect home for these empty nesters – retro-styled bathrooms, beautiful fireplace and built-ins, and a spectacular garden. The only thing the home was lacking was a functional kitchen space. The old kitchen had three entry points – one to the dining room, one to the back entry, and one to a hallway. The hallway entry was closed off to create a more functional galley style kitchen that isolated traffic running through and allowed for much more countertop and storage space. The clients wanted a transitional style that mimicked their design choices in the rest of the home. A medium wood stained base cabinet was chosen to warm up the space and create contrast against the soft white upper cabinets. The stove was given two resting points on each side, and a large pantry was added for easy-access storage. The original box window at the kitchen sink remains, but the same granite used for the countertops now sits on the sill of the window, as opposed to the old wood sill that showed all water stains and wears. The granite chosen (Nevaska Granite) is a wonderful color mixture of browns, greys, whites, steely blues and a hint of black. A travertine tile backsplash accents the warmth found in the wood tone of the base cabinets and countertops. Elegant lighting was installed as well as task lighting to compliment the bright, natural light in this kitchen. A flip-up work station will be added as another work point for the homeowners – likely to be used for their stand mixer while baking goodies with their grandkids. Wallpaper adds another layer of visual interest and texture. The end result is an elegant and timeless design that the homeowners will gladly use for years to come. We remodeled this spacious kitchen to make it more functional by adding accessories inside every one of the Showplace cabinets. The clients wanted to make a statement with the Atlas granite that they selected so we incorporated in not only for the countertops in the kitchen and butler's kitchen but also for the backsplash and nook table top.

Raising the visual presence of this kitchen was the first priority. Removing the soffit that went around most of the kitchen allowed the cabinets to be taller. We raised the backsplash from 18" to 21" to further add to the visual lift. The previous foot print stopped after the sink area. By continuing the cabinets down the wall we increased the square footage of the room and were able to increase the size of the island as well. A sage brown cabinet warmed up the room and a pesto green island added a modern flair. A beautiful slab of granite on the island helped tie all of the choices together.

Featured in this kitchen is Fusion/ Chestnut cabinets to creat this design as customer wanted to find a color and style of which would work with her older bar stools that she loved. As always loaded with customer convenant items such as Deluxe Lazy susan, pot & pan drawers, dovetail soft close rollouts and drawers, all plywood construction, glass insert doors, trash rollout. And design elements like Corbels post legs and long stailess handels. The back splash is made up of high gloss ceramic tile and a multi colored glass deco tile pattern for behind stove and a deco strip. The graniite tops are Tan/Brown granite with ogee edge at bar area and pencil edge at rest of tops.
