With tall ceilings, an impressive stone fireplace, and original wooden beams, this home in Glen Ellyn, a suburb of Chicago, had plenty of character and a style that felt coastal. Six months into the purchase of their home, this family of six contacted Alessia Loffredo and Sarah Coscarelli of ReDesign Home to complete their home’s renovation by tackling the kitchen. “Surprisingly, the kitchen was the one room in the home that lacked interest due to a challenging layout between kitchen, butler pantry, and pantry,” the designer shared, “the cabinetry was not proportionate to the space’s large footprint and height. None of the house’s architectural features were introduced into kitchen aside from the wooden beams crossing the room throughout the main floor including the family room.” She moved the pantry door closer to the prepping and cooking area while converting the former butler pantry a bar. Alessia designed an oversized hood around the stove to counterbalance the impressive stone fireplace located at the opposite side of the living space. She then wanted to include functionality, using Trim Tech‘s cabinets, featuring a pair with retractable doors, for easy access, flanking both sides of the range. The client had asked for an island that would be larger than the original in their space – Alessia made the smart decision that if it was to increase in size it shouldn’t increase in visual weight and designed it with legs, raised above the floor. Made out of steel, by Wayward Machine Co., along with a marble-replicating porcelain countertop, it was designed with durability in mind to withstand anything that her client’s four children would throw at it. Finally, she added finishing touches to the space in the form of brass hardware from Katonah Chicago, with similar toned wall lighting and faucet.

Island with sage green subway tile full height backsplash, offers a dramatic backdrop for the stainless steel cooktop and hood. Large, deep drawers provide storage for pots and pans.

This white-on-white kitchen design has a transitional style and incorporates beautiful clean lines. It features a Personal Paint Match finish on the Kitchen Island matched to Sherwin-Williams "Threshold Taupe" SW7501 and a mix of light tan paint and vibrant orange décor. These colors really pop out on the “white canvas” of this design. The designer chose a beautiful combination of white Dura Supreme cabinetry (in "Classic White" paint), white subway tile backsplash, white countertops, white trim, and a white sink. The built-in breakfast nook (L-shaped banquette bench seating) attached to the kitchen island was the perfect choice to give this kitchen seating for entertaining and a kitchen island that will still have free counter space while the homeowner entertains. Updated kitchen remodel in Malvern PA. This client’s kitchen had lived it’s life. It was time for a refresh to bring the styling up to date. Echelon cabinetry in the Addison door with dove painted finish were used as a clean bright backdrop for the new kitchen. The perimeter cabinetry was contrasted with a Fieldstone cabinetry island in the Stratford door in graphite painted finish. The darker island ties in the colors of the beautiful new Maldive Quartzite countertops and the sharp newly tiled main backsplash. LED recessed and under cabinetry lighting was installed making sure there is plenty of lighting options for ambiance and function. Now the clients have a new kitchen that matches their current styling. We hope they enjoy their new space.

This kitchen was designed for cooking, baking, and candy making. We tiled the main work triangle flooring for durability and easy cleaning. The client can cook and bake all day using the new 48” pro range and 36” induction cooktop. Countertop space is not lacking in this two island design. Taj Mahal quartzite countertops are beautiful and great for prepping dough or a cold surface for rolling candy. Fieldstone Cabinetry in walnut with a natural finish sprinkled with some macadamia painted finish gives the kitchen an elegant home feel mixed with all the professional appliances. I love the double stainless steel hoods. This kitchen has it all from form to function.
