We expanded this 1974 home from 1,200 square feet to 1,600 square feet with a new front addition and large kitchen remodel! This home was in near-original condition, with dark wood doors & trim, carpet, small windows, a cramped entry, and a tiny kitchen and dining space. The homeowners came to our design-build team seeking to increase their kitchen and living space and update the home's style with durable new finishes. "We're hard on our home!", our clients reminded us during the design phase of the project. The highlight of this project is the entirely remodeled kitchen, which rests in the combined footprint of the original small kitchen and the dining room. The crisp blue and white cabinetry is balanced against the warmth of the wide plank hardwood flooring, custom-milled wood trim, and new wood ceiling beam. This family now has space to gather around the large island, designed to have a useful function on each side. The entertaining sides of the island host bar seating and a wine refrigerator and built-in bottle storage. The cooking and prep sides of the island include a bookshelf for cookbooks --perfectly within reach of the gas cooktop and double ovens-- and a microwave drawer across from the refrigerator; only a step away to reheat meals.

This traditional kitchen features subtle pops of color and plenty of visual interest. The tile backsplash features decorative tiles that create visual interest and a focal point for the kitchen. The vent hood enhances the visual appeal in the space by using texture and complementary colors that are seen throughout the traditional kitchen.

These clients came to us with a tiny galley kitchen with a refrigerator in a separate room! Utilizing space from an adjacent three-season porch we created a larger, brighter more functional kitchen, with a slider to the patio. The "fridge room" became pantry space and the substitution of a barn door at the powder room and living room alleviated awkward door swings. The kitchen is now a great gathering space for this busy family. Cabinetry by Fabuwood, Counters by Silestone, Hardware by Amerock, Plumbing by Artisan

In the kitchen, the old cherry cabinets and yellow wallpaper were replaced with fresh, creamy white cabinetry and serene blue-grey walls, complimented by new hardwood floors and gleaming quartzite counters. The built-in Jenn-Air refrigerator serves as the anchor to the back wall, accompanied by the built-in wall ovens and microwave drawer. A Jenn-Air induction cooktop is surrounded by spice pull-outs and pot and pan drawers, set off by the Settecento New Yorker tile backsplash. On the peninsula, a beautiful Waterstone faucet and Rohl sink make prep and clean up a breeze. A cozy window seat, accented by the Circa Lighting scones, was created between additional cabinetry housing a bar area and baking center, providing the perfect area to curl up after a good meal with family and friends. A custom hutch with glass doors and shaker style mullions to the far end of the kitchen creates additional storage for cook books, tea pots and small appliances. One of the drawers is fitted with an electrical outlet and serves as charging station for I-Pads and cell phones.
