Another name sometimes used for the privacy/stockade fence. Eventually the wood shrinks and the gaps between the pickets grow over the years. You can make it even more private by spacing them apart a little and putting another picket over the space. It's attached to both pickets and keeps the gaps from showing after years of shrinking.
