For this long yet narrow room, we needed to take a different approach – one that shunned space for sensibility and style. We opted for an oceanic palette, with Fired Earth’s ‘Pearl Ashes’ hand-painted on double-panel tulip wood units to give an almost pearlescent radiance and Quartz worktops throughout for a clean, reflective finish with a wonderfully tactile texture. The limited width of the room made installing a conventional island tricky, but by mapping the available area, we were able to create this stunning peninsula allowing movement on three sides, whilst deftly adding minimalist seating. Nestled in the heart of Cowes on the Isle of Wight, this gorgeous Hampton's style cottage proves that good things, do indeed, come in 'small packages'! Small spaces packed with BIG designs and even larger solutions, this cottage may be small, but it's certainly mighty, ensuring that storage is not forgotten about, alongside practical amenities.

Homeowners in Richfield came to Castle looking to update their 1956 Kitchen in their ranch style home. The goal was to keep the same U-Shaped footprint of the kitchen while maximizing the cabinet layout configuration. The overall transformation is stunning. One major adjustment was installing the upper cabinets to the ceiling. This draws your eyes up and gives the room a larger feel with the added storage that was previously nonexistent. The java color stained Crystal Cabinets are balanced with clean polished nickel hardware. Another part of the project that was important to the homeowners was lighting. The existing configuration was dark, with very little over head light or task lighting. With adding in disc LED light fixtures in the ceiling, decorative pendant and wall sconce lighting over the sink, the space now is light and bright even with selecting darker finishes. To top off this project, Designer Tracy O’Donnell curated a gorgeous tile feature above the farmhouse sink. The picture framed Carrara marble herringbone mosaic tile features natural colors that play off the countertop and warmth of the cabinets beautifully. Overall, the homeowners couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out!

This bright urban oasis is perfectly appointed with O'Brien Harris Cabinetry in Chicago's bespoke Chatham White Oak cabinetry. The scope of the project included a kitchen that is open to the great room and a bar. The open-concept design is perfect for entertaining. Countertops are Carrara marble, and the backsplash is a white subway tile, which keeps the palette light and bright. The kitchen is accented with polished nickel hardware. Niches were created for open shelving on the oven wall. A custom hood fabricated by O’Brien Harris with stainless banding creates a focal point in the space. Windows take up the entire back wall, which posed a storage challenge. The solution? Our kitchen designers extended the kitchen cabinetry into the great room to accommodate the family’s storage requirements. obrienharris.com

STRATFORD KITCHEN A mid-century inspired kitchen, designed for a mid-century house. We love mid-century style, and so when we were approached to design this kitchen for a beautifully revived mid-century villa in Warwickshire, it was a dream commission. Simple, clean cabinetry was brought to life with the gorgeous iroko timber, and the cabinetry sat on a matt black plinth – a classic mid-century detail. A walk-in pantry, lined in single-depth shelving, was framed behind sliding doors glazed with traditional reeded glass. Refrigeration and storage was contained in a long run of tall cabinets, that finished in a mirror-backed bar with integral ice bucket But the show-stealer was a set of bespoke, handmade shelves that screened the kitchen from the hallway in this open plan home. Subtly detailed, like only real furniture-makers can, with traditional jointing and mid-century radiused edges.

We used white herringbone backsplash porcelain tile with gold accent kitchen accessories. And the colors, Benjamin Moore 1597 pebble beach and pelican gray 1612 in the coastal beach kitchen design. Serena & Lily's Avalon Bar Stool, 26" high, was used for the L-shaped kitchen island.
