Authentic British Kitchen in Worthing, West Sussex A traditional kitchen with handmade cabinetry and dovetail joinery was required for this sunny seaside renovation. The Brief An ultra-luxurious, authentic kitchen was required for this development project undertaken by our contract department. To tie in with high ceilings and sash windows a traditional theme was sought to impress potential suitors of this wonderful property. The property is a four-storey townhouse near to the seaside in Worthing and has been developed to an exceptional standard for a private client. Design Elements The developer already had an idea of the layout of the space, with a wall-to-wall run and island as the preferred configuration. To add the authentic, traditional element to the project our handmade British kitchen option from Mereway Kitchens was required, boasting handmade cabinetry and dovetail joinery. A Diamond Grey finish has been opted for, which combines nicely with the sparkling quartz work surfaces. Special Inclusions To match the premium furnishings with premium functionality, a combination of Siemens cooking appliances has been utilised. Notable inclusions are a Siemens warming drawer, a combination oven and a Caple wine cabinet. Integrated appliances have been opted for in the form of Siemens refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher. Project Highlight The real standout of this project is the handmade cabinetry, which matches the grandeur of this property in every way. The dovetailed oak joinery is exhibited across all drawers and cupboards in this kitchen space. Understated door knobs and cup handles have been chosen to match the traditional style. This home was a blend of modern and traditional, mixed finishes, classic subway tiles, and ceramic light fixtures. The kitchen was kept bright and airy with high-end appliances for the avid cook and homeschooling mother. As an animal loving family and owner of two furry creatures, we added a little whimsy with cat wallpaper in their laundry room.

Putting cabinetry along the back wall of our Condo project would have looked clumsy butted up against the window. Instead we made this otherwise awkward corner shine with a striking marble splash back to the ceiling. Keeping the upper cabinets white (which keeps the space open and spacious) adding a splash of colour below and hint of timber and brass means that this small kitchen is not small on style.

Progettare e Ristrutturare Casa nella provincia di Monza e Brianza significa intervenire in una delle zone dove il Design e l’Architettura d’Interni ha avuto uno degli sviluppi più incisivi in tutta l’Italia. In questo progetto di ristrutturazione di un appartamento su due livelli ad Arcore, la parola d’ordine è stata: personalizzazione. Ogni ambiente ed ogni aspetto dell’Interior Design è stato pensato, progettato e realizzato sul principio del “su misura”. E’ su misura la cucina, tutta la boiserie contenitiva che abbraccia la scala, i mobili del soggiorno, una pratica scrivania da living che crea un angolo studio, tutti gli elementi dei bagni e ogni elemento di arredo della casa. La casa di fatto “non è stata arredata”, è stata in realtà costruita l’architettura d’interni dei nuovi ambienti; nuovi soprattutto nell’atmosfera e nella distribuzione. A partire dal soggiorno, dove una grande “libreria-parapetto” scherma la scala e funge da fulcro di tutta la casa, diventandone la protagonista assoluta, tutto è stato pensato in veste di Interior Design Sartoriale, cucito sulle pareti, a caratterizzare i confini degli spazi di vita della casa e le personalità dei suoi abitanti.

L’objectif principal de ce projet a été de réorganiser entièrement les espaces en insufflant une atmosphère épurée empreinte de poésie, tout en respectant les volumes et l’histoire de la construction, ici celle de Charles Dalmas, le majestueux Grand Palais de Nice. Suite à la dépose de l’ensemble des murs et à la restructuration de la marche en avant, la lumière naturelle a pu s’inviter dans l’ensemble de l’appartement, créant une entrée naturellement lumineuse. Dans le double séjour, la hauteur sous plafond a été conservée, le charme de l’haussmannien s’est invité grâce aux détails architecturaux atypiques comme les corniches, la niche, la moulure qui vient englober les miroirs. La cuisine, située initialement au fond de l’appartement, est désormais au cœur de celui-ci et devient un véritable lieu de rencontre. Une niche traversante délimite le double séjour de l’entrée et permet de créer deux passages distincts. Cet espace, composé d’une subtile association de lignes orthogonales, trouve son équilibre dans un mélange de rose poudré, de laiton doré et de quartz blanc pur. La table ronde en verre aux pieds laiton doré devient un élément sculptural autour duquel la cuisine s’organise. L’ensemble des placards est de couleur blanc pur, pour fusionner avec les murs de l’appartement. Les salles de bain sont dans l’ensemble carrelées de zellige rectangulaire blanc, avec une robinetterie fabriqué main en France, des luminaires et des accessoires en finition laiton doré réchauffant ces espaces. La suite parentale qui remplace l’ancien séjour, est adoucie par un blanc chaud ainsi qu’un parquet en chêne massif posé droit. Le changement de zone est marqué par une baguette en laiton et un sol différent, ici une mosaïque bâton rompu en marbre distinguant l’arrivée dans la salle de bain. Cette dernière a été pensée comme un cocon, refuge de douceur.

Designed to the period of the home, this kitchen was created to keep as much of the 1932 Cape Cod feel of the home as possible while giving it a completely functional update. The designer kept all the smallest details in mind including door styles, pulls, “icebox” latches and bracketed molding. All the details harken back to the earlier era. In keeping with the old house feel, fir floors stained in cherry provide some orange tones which are a nice foil to the blue-gray tones of the cabinetry.
