Rough sawn oak veneer cabinets in a natural finish was used on the island to bring an updated barn board look to this remodeled kitchen. The same wood was used on the floating shelves and on a panel behind the range hood (not shown). Topping it with a countertop material called Neolith, in Beton, and incorporating a 3" drop mitred edge helps bring the loft feeling of the rest of the loft into the kitchen.

The client specified a thin but durable gun metal grey concrete surface for their new contemporary style kitchen. We opted for a 20mm thick matching countertop and island complete with waterfall end panels, upstands and a backsplash for the hob. The clients used an undermounted stainless steel sink with a bowl and a half and a chrome tap.
We used our own eco-friendly high strength mix which was polished and sealed with a high-grade, food-safe sealer that lasts forever with little to no maintenance.

The rough sawn oak was brought to the perimeter on the floating shelves (not pictured) and on a panel behind the stainless steel range hood. Below the cabinets, the countertop material was used on the backsplash providing a seamless look. The 30" dual fuel wolf range features their stainless steel knobs to allow the wood paneling to steel the show. The integrated subzero stainless steel refrigerator also looks classic and perfectly at home in this industrial kitchen.

Using Neolith as the countertop material on the island gave the homeowner the concrete look she was looking for without the upkeep of using actual concrete. The color is Beton and offers the look and texture of concrete without the curing time, unknown stresses of popping the concrete out of the mold, and it holds up better, doesn't require future sealings and the versatility of the material allows the fabricator to drop mitre the edge to any desired thickness. Here, a 2.5" thick drop mitre edge was used.

Floating shelves made with rough sawn wood to match the island are supported by plumbing pipes and fittings that were spray painted black and used to help bring an industrial feeling to this kitchen in an open loft condo. The full height backsplash is in the same material as the countertop, which is a marble looking quartz.

This newly remodeled kitchen in an old industrial building with exposed brick features an industrial looking kitchen. The perimeter cabinets are grey stained maple and the island is a rough sawn oak veneer that adds so much texture and life into the space. The perimeter countertops are a marble looking quartz and the island is Beton Neolith which looks like concrete but wears like tile. All the appliances are stainless steel. The island features casters on the bottom and the floating shelf support is plumbing pipe spray painted black.

Vintage casters were put on the corners of this island to give it a more industrial feel. The island is fixed to the floor (power sources) but the casters help make the piece look old and like it can be moved.
