Overview Simple extension in Twickenham. The Brief The primary aim of this project was to create a space to cook and eat in while repositioning the ground floor bathroom. Our Solution The clients blend of vintage and crisp modern architecture meant the scheme could be a little industrial in its aesthetic. We have combined several key features – An oversized rooflight to flood the kitchen with sun; a feature pivot door to the garden and a simple wrapped zinc roof. With the clients fantastic garden to look onto and a reclaimed gym floor to add a bit of reclaimed chic, this has created some striking, crisp architecture. Category

Mitt i det hemtrevliga Vasastan blev vår uppgift att blåsa nytt liv i en lägenhet som en ung familj nyligen köpt. Utmaningen för oss var att modernisera lägenheten på 125 kvadratmeter och samtidigt bevara dess arkitektur från sent 1800-tal. För att få fram det tidsenliga hem familjen önskade, började skisserna gå mot en mer öppen planlösning. Beslutet att omplacera köket och slå upp en vägg där det tidigare varit ett sovrum, gjorde att hemmet kunde bjuda in till en mer social miljö. Tack vare förflyttningen av köket som placerades mer centralt i lägenheten, förvandlades platsen till en mer naturlig mötesplats. Den nya planlösningen blev grundläggande för att få fram rätt känsla men även val av material och andra detaljer spelade en viktig roll för att få en sammanhängande atmosfär. Lägenhetens generösa takhöjd bidrog till ett luftigt intryck och det naturliga ljuset utifrån gjorde att en klassisk skandinavisk palett i gråa toner kombinerat med inslag av trä föll sig passande. Elementen av mässing och de gammelrosa nyanserna adderade en trendig sofistikerad känsla. Genom att återställa detaljer som lister, spegelpaneler och stuckaturer i taket kunde slutresultatet signalera ett enhetligt samspel mellan gammalt och nytt. This project combines two existing studio apartments into a compact 800 sqft. live/work space for a young professional couple in the heart of Chelsea, New York. The design required some creative space planning to meet the Owner’s requested program for an open plan solution with a private master bedroom suite and separate study that also allowed for entertaining small parties, including the ability to provide a sleeping space for guests. The solution was to identify areas of overlap within the program that could be addressed with dual-function custom millwork pieces. A bar-stool counter at the open kitchen folds out to become a bench and dining table for formal entertaining. A custom desk folds down with a murphy bed to convert a private study into a guest bedroom area. A series of pocket door connecting the spaces provide both privacy to the master bedroom area when closed, and the option for a completely open layout when opened. A carefully selected material palette brings a warm, tranquil feel to the space. Reclaimed teak floors run seamlessly through the main spaces to accentuate the open layout. Warm gray lacquered millwork, Centaurus granite slabs, and custom oxidized stainless steel details, give an elegant counterpoint to the natural teak floors. The master bedroom suite and study feature custom Afromosia millwork. The bathrooms are finished with cool toned ceramic tile, custom Afromosia vanities, and minimalist chrome fixtures. This condo kitchen remodel completely transformed the space! We removed the builder-grade wood cabinetry that was originally installed in the building and put in sleek matte lacquer cabinets with Caesarstone countertops and full-height backsplash. The appliances also got an upgrade to a full Miele package! The wall on the left side of the island was originally solid and blocked the view of the space from the entry. We opened in up to become a "picture frame" wall since we couldn't remove the entire thing due to plumbing and electrical running through it. The result is a much brighter, open kitchen with far more storage!
