The island is stained walnut. The cabinets are glazed paint. The gray-green hutch has copper mesh over the doors and is designed to appear as a separate free standing piece. Small appliances are behind the cabinets at countertop level next to the range. The hood is copper with an aged finish. The wall of windows keeps the room light and airy, despite the dreary Pacific Northwest winters! The fireplace wall was floor to ceiling brick with a big wood stove. The new fireplace surround is honed marble. The hutch to the left is built into the wall and holds all of their electronics. Project by Portland interior design studio Jenni Leasia Interior Design. This project is best described in one word: Fun – Oh wait, and bold! This homes mid-century modern construction style was inspiration that married nicely to our clients request to also have a home with a glamorous and lux vibe. We have a long history of working together and the couple was very open to concepts but she had one request: she loved blue, in any and all forms, and wanted it to be used liberally throughout the house. This new-to-them home was an original 1966 ranch in the Calvert area of Lincoln, Nebraska and was begging for a new and more open floor plan to accommodate large family gatherings. The house had been so loved at one time but was tired and showing her age and an allover change in lighting, flooring, moldings as well as development of a new and more open floor plan, lighting and furniture and space planning were on our agenda. This album is a progression room to room of the house and the changes we made. We hope you enjoy it! This was such a fun and rewarding project and In the end, our Musician husband and glamorous wife had their forever dream home nestled in the heart of the city.

Elongated white subway tiles are used in the floor-to-ceiling backsplash for a simple, casual look. Playful vibrant cabinets in Benjamin Moore Bunker Hill Green create a cheerful atmosphere around wood features and marble countertops. A T-shape kitchen island and dining table are combined with Carerra marble and oak countertops. Backless bistro Serena & Lily Riviera Backless Stools are placed at the eat-in island table set under an ivory tiered Made Goods Patricia Chandelier. Stainless steel upgrades include a fridge framed by green cabinets, under counter wine cooler and stove under steel hood. A white corner focuses on a wet bar with floating shelves flanking a window over a set of under counter beverage fridge and wine coolers. Wire brushed oak floors open up the kitchen design in a warm and modern way creating a beautiful design.
