A contemporary home full of warm but powerful earth tones. Our client wanted us to incorporate natural colors and natural elements, while keeping the design current and on-trend. Bursts of burnt orange and nature-themed artwork were the accents, while rich wooden furnishings, tailored furnishings, and lush textiles complemented. The overall look is a clean design that doesn't lack personality, taking full advantage of nature's warmth and the importance of functional, everyday living. This was a major remodel where the kitchen was completely gutted, flooring and soffits were removed and all the electrical in the kitchen had to be reworked and brought up to code. We used Waypoint Living Spaces for the perimeter cabinets and used a riser and crown molding to connect the cabinets to the ceiling. We chose Medallion Cabinetry for the island because the customer had her heart set on a green painted island. The hardware we used is from the Mulholland collection by Amerock. The customers have large family gathers and it was very important for them to have an island that was moveable. We used casters from Richelieu to create and island that could move easily, as well as having brakes to keep the island in place when they wanted. Giallo Traversella granite was used on the perimeter countertops to tie together the greens and beige tones of the cabinetry and we used John Boos, walnut butcher block countertop for the island to compliment wood tones from the existing millwork in the home. The customer provided me with an inspiration picture for a backsplash, she knew she wanted a glass patterned backsplash. Ceramic Tiles International had released their Debut Petal mosaic tile and the customer loved it. Prior to the remodel, the kitchen was very dark and very crowded, it did not function in a way that worked for my customer. We added under cabinet LED lights, one general ceiling fixture and LED Brio Disc lights with dimming capabilities so the customers could adjust the lighting to their specific needs. Light fixtures were updated in the hallways as well as the kitchen. My customer didn’t know exactly what they wanted as far as plumbing was concerned. They wanted products that were durable and easy to maintain. I chose the Blanco Performa undermount sink in the Truffle color due to is durability and the color complimented the other materials. We used Moen’s Arbor single handle pull down spray faucet and transitional soap dispenser due to its simplistic design, functionality and warranty. We used a ¾ horsepower Insinkerator disposal and a deluxe Steamball strainer basket. The customer originally had Parquet flooring and they liked the look of real hardwood. Madeira 5” planks in Dark Gunstock oak was chosen for its color and durability. The flooring brought in warm neutral tones to compliment other materials. My customer wanted a larger window, but they had some safety concerns. We addressed their concerns by providing a larger Awning style window, using tempered glass and double locks.

Clean, beautiful and open. The white cabinetry, hardwood floors and overall design create an inviting vibe for this modern kitchen space. Learn more about our showroom and kitchen and bath design: Due to a tragic house fire, our client was faced with a new slate. A blend of contemporary and mid-century modern was the goal for the new kitchen design. A few requests the client had were double ovens, and a serving and clean up area along with a space for cooking and baking. For cabinetry, an antique white matte style was chosen for the perimeter and paired with a walnut finish custom door cabinet with an eased edge and a morocco and black glaze for the island and serving space. Contrasting the white cabinetry with the floating shelves and dimensional porcelain bar backsplash kept the space fresh and contemporary while the function of the space overall became the star and executed mid-century modern beautifully. Accessories in the kitchen are toe kick drawers, utensil dividers, a spice pantry, glass cabinet doors, double trash bin and tilt up hinge wall cabinets. The open concept kitchen and dining space met the client’s desire for their love to entertain large groups in their home. When my clients purchased this charming 1940's home in the Seattle neighborhood of Wedgwood, they were amazed by how intact the original kitchen was. It was like a perfect time capsule. The color palette was avocado green and buttercream yellow. The highlights were an original retro built-in banquette and vintage oven! The challenge we faced (besides the awesome but dated finishes) was the closed floor plan typical in this era of homes and the lack of storage. So, we opened the kitchen to the adjacent dining and living room, bringing it up to speed with modern-day living. In opening it up, we also walled off a doorway that went from the kitchen to the hallway, but it was completely unnecessary and allowed us to gain an entire wall of cabinets that didn't exist previously. For the finishes, we kept it classic with mostly gray and white but brought in a little flare and interest with the herringbone backsplash and brushed brass finishes because who doesn't love a little gold? Also, we added color with the finishing details like the rug and countertop decor because those things are a great way to add interest and warmth to a space and can be easily changed when it's time for a fresh new look. --- Project designed by interior design studio Kimberlee Marie Interiors. Miele appliances (oven, steam, coffee maker, paneled refrigerator, freezer, and "knock to open" dishwasher), induction cooking on an island, a highly functional Galley Workstation and the latest technology in cabinetry and countertop finishes to last a lifetime. Grain matched natural walnut and matte nanotech touch-to-open white and grey cabinets provide a natural color palette that allows the interior of this home to blend beautifully with the prairie and pastures seen through the large commercial windows on both sides of this kitchen & living great room.
