"I want light and airy!" That was our design challenge in changing a dark depressing kitchen to a vibrant space for entertaining and enjoying the everyday. This beautiful light and airy kitchen was achieved through the use of light materials including white cabinetry with lots of glass featuring sweeping curved mullions, a majestic curved chimney hood, stunning white quartzite and stainless steel Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances. Function was also a cornerstone of the design with spaces created for seating, storage and serving. An old desk was replaced with a coffee bar station which doubles as a drink area when having guests. Natural light was improved along with energy efficient LED lighting to set the mood, especially at night. "We just love our transformed kitchen, it makes the house a home!"

Our clients wanted to make the most of space so we gutted the home and rebuilt the inside to create a functional and kid-friendly home with timeless style. Our clients’ vision was clear: They wanted a warm and timeless design that was easy to clean and maintain with two-active boys. “It’s not unusual for our friends and family to drop past unannounced any day of the week. And we love it!” They told us during our initial Design Therapy Sesh. We knew immediately what she meant - we have an open-door policy with our families, too! Which was why we consciously created living spaces that were open, inviting and welcoming. Now, the only problem our clients would have would be convincing their guests to leave! This modern kitchen has statement lighting above the island with a dropped wood soffit with wood slats. The island has waterfall ends and most of the appliances are stainless steel. The refrigerator and freezer are paneled with a flush application. The counters, backsplash and hood are all quartzite.

The style of the home is transitional with splashes of art deco. The cabinetry was fashioned after a European style mixing two different door styles but the cabinetry was custom made in America by Ovation Cabinetry through Signature Designs Kitchen Bath. . Blonde wide plank wood flooring, kitchen countertops are cristallo polished slab and backsplashes and unique natural stone counter tops further contribute to the glamous feeling of the space. The focal point in the center of this kitchen is the custom white and brass hood. Custom made for the space with the angle to follow the slope of the ceiling.
