This original kitchen to the home was dark and had lived it's life. The client wanted an open and bright update kitchen with focus on specific storage needs. Every item in the kitchen had a specific placement for it's storing; this is the reason for different sized drawers throughout the kitchen. The client's like to entertain, so we lowered the raised bar and added a dry bar.

We took on the kitchen, two bathrooms and a powder room. The layout in the kitchen was functional for them, so we kept that pretty much as is. Our client wanted a contemporary-leaning transitional look — nice clean lines with a gray and white palette. Light gray cabinets with a slightly darker gray subway tile keep the northern exposure light and airy. They also purchased some new furniture for their breakfast room and adjoining family room, so the whole space looks completely styled and new. The light fixtures are staggered and give a nice rhythm to the otherwise serene feel. The homeowners were not 100% sold on the flooring choice for little powder room off the kitchen when I first showed it, but now they think it is one of the most interesting features of the design. I always try to “push” my clients a little bit because that’s when things can get really fun and this is what you are paying for after all, ideas that you may not come up with on your own. We also worked on the two upstairs bathrooms. We started first on the hall bath which was basically just in need of a face lift. The floor is porcelain tile made to look like carrera marble. The vanity is white Shaker doors fitted with a white quartz top. We re-glazed the cast iron tub. The master bath was a tub to shower conversion. We used a wood look porcelain plank on the main floor along with a Kohler Tailored vanity. The custom shower has a barn door shower door, and vinyl wallpaper in the sink area gives a rich textured look to the space. Overall, it’s a pretty sophisticated look for its smaller fooprint. You can see that the dividing wall between the kitchen and dining area was removed, really enlarging and brightening the space. The breakfast bar previously sat within a small pass-through window just beside the kitchen doorway, creating an awkward, choppy wall and a cramped eating area. Our new clients lived in a charming Spanish-style house in the historic Larchmont area of Los Angeles. Their kitchen, which was obviously added later, was devoid of style and desperately needed a makeover. While they wanted the latest in appliances they did want their new kitchen to go with the style of their house. The en trend choices of patterned floor tile and blue cabinets were the catalysts for pulling the whole look together.

This gray and transitional kitchen remodel bridges the gap between contemporary style and traditional style. The dark gray cabinetry, light gray walls, and white subway tile backsplash make for a beautiful, neutral canvas for the bold teal blue and yellow décor accented throughout the design. Designer Gwen Adair of Cabinet Supreme by Adair did a fabulous job at using grays to create a neutral backdrop to bring out the bright, vibrant colors that the homeowners love so much. This Milwaukee, WI kitchen is the perfect example of Dura Supreme's recent launch of gray paint finishes, it has been interesting to see these new cabinetry colors suddenly flowing across our manufacturing floor, destined for homes around the country. This home had a very dated and closed in kitchen. The goal was to remove a loadbearing wall and open the kitchen to the dining area, giving the benefits of open concept design. Benjamin Moore painted cabinetry was used along with with stunning Dark Blue peninsula and lower cabinets. We also installed quartz countertops and a funky backsplash that really sets the look up nicely. What a wonderful change for our homeowners, now they have a bright and airy space they really love!

Other than removing cabinetry above this peninsula- in order to open up the space - this kitchen kept the same compact foot print. Timberlake Cabinetry, door style New Haven with a Linen Painted finish. Counter top is MSI Quatz, in Fossil Gray with under mount quartz composite sink in Concreto. Back-splash is Modern Dimension Wave 4 x 12 Tile in Glo from Daltile.

When we drove out to Mukilteo for our initial consultation, we immediately fell in love with this house. With its tall ceilings, eclectic mix of wood, glass and steel, and gorgeous view of the Puget Sound, we quickly nicknamed this project "The Mukilteo Gem". Our client, a cook and baker, did not like her existing kitchen. The main points of issue were short runs of available counter tops, lack of storage and shortage of light. So, we were called in to implement some big, bold ideas into a small footprint kitchen with big potential. We completely changed the layout of the room by creating a tall, built-in storage wall and a continuous u-shape counter top. Early in the project, we took inventory of every item our clients wanted to store in the kitchen and ensured that every spoon, gadget, or bowl would have a dedicated "home" in their new kitchen. The finishes were meticulously selected to ensure continuity throughout the house. We also played with the color scheme to achieve a bold yet natural feel.This kitchen is a prime example of how color can be used to both make a statement and project peace and balance simultaneously. While busy at work on our client's kitchen improvement, we also updated the entry and gave the homeowner a modern laundry room with triple the storage space they originally had. End result: ecstatic clients and a very happy design team. That's what we call a big success! John Granen.

These wonderful homeowners contacted Castle in NEED of a new kitchen. The old kitchen of this 1926 Morris Park neighborhood home was falling apart. After years of making it work, they finally decided to take the next steps so they could love their home again. After seeing the home and discussing the family’s needs, we decided the best kitchen for them would include opening the kitchen up into the dining room for better work flow within the kitchen space. The homeowners had no idea their kitchen could feel so large without an addition! It was a joy to show them their home’s potential. The new kitchen includes a balance of the existing home’s finishes along with some more contemporary updates. New custom-designed cabinetry in a Maple Honey finish, granite countertops, subway tile backsplash from American Olean Midwest, new appliances, new lighting, new luxury vinyl Adura tile flooring, new millwork to match existing, and a new back door complete the kitchen. Castle’s favorite part of the kitchen are the Kashmir Pearl granite countertops. The granite has a splash of plum color that really draws your eye in when you look closely and matches nicely with the homes original dark millwork. The homeowners’ favorite feature was the floors! Luxury vinyl is a great alternative to a tile floor for a nice aesthetic that also isn’t so hard on your feet. The homeowners could not be happier with their new space. This end of the kitchen was originally walled off into two separate rooms. A smaller room was on the left which was a larder and the right had a small eating area for servants., hence the two different sized windows. I created a large sweeping curved to over a support beam that was structurally required once the walls were removed and then completed the curve with custom designed brackets. The custom built banquette has a leather seat and fabric back. The table I designed and a local worker made it from a felled walnut tree on the property.
