Die Küche als Durchgangsraum mit zwei Verbindungen zu anderen Zimmern ist eine echte Herausforderung, die in diesem Fall edel und unauffällig gelöst wurde. Sowohl die Hochschränke als auch der Küchenblock als Kochinsel lassen den Raum geschlossen wirken, während der seitliche Durchgang zum Nebenraum offen bleibt.

Le client souhaitait réaliser une extension pour avoir une pièce lumineuse. Une extension aurait, pour un coût important et des travaux lourds, dénaturé l'harmonie existante des façades extérieures et de la composition du bâti. En outre, le client trouvait sa cuisine peu pratique et sombre. Il a été proposé de détruire une partie d'un grenier peu exploité, et de réaliser une verrière en toiture. Il en résulte un espace au volume généreux, baigné de lumière naturelle, et une cuisine optimisée. Les poutres existantes, de très belle qualité, sont mises en valeur.

The project brief was to modernise, renovate and extend an existing property in Walsall, UK. Maintaining a classic but modern style, the property was extended and finished with a light grey render and grey stone slip cladding. Large windows, lantern-style skylights and roof skylights allow plenty of light into the open-plan spaces and rooms. The full-height stone clad gable to the rear houses the main staircase, receiving plenty of daylight

Some remodeling customers are uncertain about the best way to change the look of their space, and turn to us at Kitchen Magic for guidance; other homeowners already have a clear idea of what they want, and ask us to make their vision a reality. The latter was very much the case in a recent remodeling project we completed in Milford, New Jersey. The home had been designed by the homeowner, who was clearly accustomed to creating and implementing an artistic vision for their living space. By the time Kitchen Magic arrived on the scene, the homeowner already had clear ideas about the colors and materials that would go into creating the look of their new kitchen. Cabinet refacing was the perfect solution for staying within budget, yet still having the kitchen they had always dreamed of. Building on the Existing Decor is Key The sleek, black appliances already in place demanded a bold complement, and the rich, deep hue of Cordovan on Cherry stain fit the bill perfectly. The arched cabinet doors add a classic touch of elegance, but one that blends seamlessly with the modern feel of the other design elements. The clean lines and chrome finish of the cabinet hardware serve to unite the vivid cherry cabinetry with the gray toned counters and backsplash. That backsplash, a custom design envisioned by the homeowner, brings both unity and contrast to the entire space. The splashes of lighter values brighten the deep red tones of the cabinets, keeping the room from feeling too dark. The use of texture and varied tonal values create a unique piece that adds dimension to the kitchen's personality and reflects the creative energy of the homeowners. The luxury of the deep cherry-red cabinets and the sleekly modern lines of the furnishings create a timeless and bold back drop for the counters, and only one stone perfectly fits that bill: granite! The black Uba Tuba granite countertops chosen by the homeowners have the visual weight and richness to pair with the Cordovan on Cherry, and the marbling of lighter and darker values echo of the custom-designed backsplash over the range, completing the new design. Taken together, the effect of the homeowners' choices create a striking, elegant, and almost decadent feel without any heavy or dark characters. The sleek lines and organic look created by the arched cabinet doors give the room a sense of grace and motion that is entirely appropriate to the homeowners' aesthetic, given their fondness for the adventure of hot-air ballooning and active life style. As kitchens grew larger throughout the 20th century to accommodate new inventions such as automatic washing machines, and smaller rooms like sculleries and larders were incorporated into the kitchen itself, a greater emphasis on utility and function ensued. In the post-war world the urge for a bright new future also made the most of new materials like plastic laminates which changed the face of kitchens in Europe for years to come. We wanted to reverse this trend and introduce a warmer and more liveable kitchen designed around our lifestyles. Bastide was born from this demand for beauty with utility; combining form and function with a continental twist. Capturing the simplicity and charm of a country kitchen, Bastide is timeless, robust and built for a lifetime at the heart of your home, by applying heritage ideas to modern culture.

This kitchen forms part of a recent house extension and refurbishment project in Bristol, which provided the owners with a wonderfully spacious, open-plan kitchen-dining-living area. Our designer created a simple pared-back style, understated and neutral which could stand the test of time. The hand-painted, solid wood kitchen is centred around a large island. The island incorporates a sink with a Quooker boiling tap, a breakfast bar and a Caple wine cooler, plus plenty of drawer storage for crockery and cutlery. The corner bi-fold unit is perfect for hiding away tea and coffee making essentials. A second bi-fold unit mirrors the first on the other side of the mantle hiding electric mixing bowels and cooking equipment. The built-in mantel frames an induction/gas domino hob, under-counter Siemens oven and triple drawer units providing storage for pots, pans and utensils. On the opposite side are a Fisher & Paykel French-style fridge/freezer, an oven tower with a Siemens integrated oven, microwave and warming drawer. The double door larder provides plenty of storage space for cans, packets and a rack for herbs and spices. Finally, we added a free-standing dresser unit which provided even more storage space, a place to charge devices and to hide away all those bits and pieces that every kitchen accumulates. The kitchen was painted in a soft grey and strong blue which is very popular at the moment. White Silestone worktops keep the kitchen feeling calm and softens the dark blue island. Chrome handles were chosen to match the kitchen taps and appliances, along with two striking chrome/glass domes to light the island.
