Before renovating, this bright and airy family kitchen was small, cramped and dark. The dining room was being used for spillover storage, and there was hardly room for two cooks in the kitchen. By knocking out the wall separating the two rooms, we created a large kitchen space with plenty of storage, space for cooking and baking, and a gathering table for kids and family friends. The dark navy blue cabinets set apart the area for baking, with a deep, bright counter for cooling racks, a tiled niche for the mixer, and pantries dedicated to baking supplies. The space next to the beverage center was used to create a beautiful eat-in dining area with an over-sized pendant and provided a stunning focal point visible from the front entry. The owners of a newly constructed log home chose a distinctive color scheme for the kitchen and laundry room cabinetry. Cabinetry along the parameter walls of the kitchen are painted Benjamin Moore Britannia Blue and the island, with custom light fixture above, is Benjamin Moore Timber Wolf. Five cabinet doors in the layout have mullion and glass inserts and lighting high lights the bead board cabinet backs. SUBZERO and Wolf appliances and a pop-up mixer shelf are a cooks delight. Michelangelo Quartzite tops off the island, while all other tops are Massa Quartz. The laundry room, with two built-in dog kennels, is painted Benjamin Moore Caliente provides a cheery atmosphere for house hold chores.

This no-fuss kitchen is designed for simplicity, while utilizing user-friendly and worry-free materials. The abundance of natural light adds to the room’s relaxed atmosphere; making it an ideal gathering place to entertain family and friends. Seating at the custom-designed island brings visitors close to the action, but out of the kitchen’s work-space. The renovated layout places the refrigerator and wall-oven on the left wall, with the built-in cabinets; and clears the Silestone island-surface for a spacious prep area. The vegetable sink is positioned opposite the refrigerator for optimum access. Circulation, from the much-used exterior door, allows one to slide along the edge of the room, without interfering with the cook. The natural palette includes a walnut countertop; off-white upper and base cabinets; an ‘L’ shaped counter configuration; quarter sawn white oak island cabinets with a driftwood finish and charcoal glaze; and Silestone quartz surface for the island countertop. The Royal Mile Kitchen perfects the collaboration between contemporary & character features in this beautiful, historic home. The kitchen uses a clean and fresh colour scheme with White Quartz worktops and Inchyra Blue painted handleless cabinets throughout. The ultra-sleek large island provides a stunning centrepiece and makes a statement with its wraparound worktop. A convenient seating area is cleverly created around the island, allowing the perfect space for informal dining.

We moved the stove and fridge to create flow and cut back a wall 4 feet. Added some soffits and the homeowner was bold and picked some amazing colors. Kudos to her and what she imagined.
