A modern farmhouse style kitchen & family room in a updated Colonial Revival house. Kitchen with L shaped island and banquette that opens up to family room opening up with accorrdian doors to outdoor kitchen deck. Area includes porcelain plank wood flooring, matching marble backsplash, walk-in pantry and appliances such as full-height wine refrigerator, 54 inch refrigerator-freezer, built-in coffee machine, microwaver drawer, 48 inch range, and dishwasher with farm sink.

This project complete changed the entire first floor of the home and created a whole new layout for the family to live in. To start the wall into the old dining room was taken down and the kitchen was expanded into that room, windows were taken out and two new French doors were put in to open up onto a deck that connect the kitchen and the new dining room space from the outside. A half wall that separated the former eat-in kitchen area and the old kitchen space was also removed to create the new dining room space. The entire back half of the house has been transformed into an entertainers dream space. In the new kitchen two islands were installed to further help the flow of the space and keep the cooking and prepping area separate from the eating and entertaining space. This Carmel Valley complete remodel truly defines an open-concept living space that is elegant, functional, and full of beautiful finishes. Taking center stage in the kitchen is a gorgeous, large island that features cabinetry in a very on-trend jewel toned blue hue that perfectly accents the primary palette of white and grey throughout the rest of the space. Other beautiful details include the custom hood, walk-in pantry, and the unique marbled mosaic subway tiled backsplash. Subtle brass fixtures and accents accentuate the modern feel while top of the line appliances add the finishing touch for this home chef. Fortunately, one of the best benefits of living in southern California are the mild temperatures that make it possible to enjoy outdoor living spaces nearly year-round. The addition of a large sliding door in the family room expanded this client’s access to a lovely outdoor patio and eating area, complete with recessed heating for cooler months, while a beautiful custom fireplace/entertainment center created the perfect spot for the whole family to enjoy.

This kitchen, in a 1920's Craftsman-style home, was given a fresh new look with a gut renovation that removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room allowing the light to spread through the main level. The homeowner is a fabulous home chef and he can now cook, teach and entertain at the same time.

What comes to mind when you envision the perfect multi-faceted living spaces? Is it an expansive amount of counter space at which to cook, work, or entertain freely? Abundant and practical cabinet organization to keep clutter at bay and the space looking beautiful? Or perhaps the answer is all of the above, along with a cosy spot to retreat after the long day is complete. The project we are sharing with you here has each of these elements in spades: spaces that combine beauty with function, promote comfort and relaxation, and make time at home enjoyable for this active family of three. Our main focus was to remodel the kitchen, where we hoped to create a functional layout for everyday use. Our clients also hoped to incorporate a home office right into the kitchen itself. However, the clients realized that renovation the kitchen alone wouldn’t create the full transformation they were looking for. Kitchens interact intimately with their adjacent spaces, especially family rooms, and we were determined to elevate their daily living experience from top to bottom. We redesigned the kitchen and living area to increase work surfaces and storage solutions, create comfortable and luxurious spaces to unwind, and update the overall aesthetic to fit their more modern, collected taste. Here’s how it turned out…

Two-tone kitchens are definitely still popular! This contemporary masterpiece achieves the motif with wet-look icy blue paint and richly-stained walnut for warmth. 1” thick slab doors and drawers sport a narrow trim around their edges. Double-stacked cabinets take advantage of the vaulted ceiling, and glass doors adjacent to the fridge display collectables. Paneled fridge columns, dishwasher, and wine fridge maintain continuity. The focal point is a free-form blue-pigmented steel chandelier, centered on the walnut island; brushed stainless and brass custom hood; and the walnut cabinets that flank it. Brass accents the cabinet pulls; satin gold highlights the pot filler faucet; the prep and main sink faucets; and the instant hot/cold faucet. Undermount sinks are white granite composite, while countertops and backsplashes are marble-patterned “Dekton” quartz material. Underfoot is a playful blue and white diagonal randomly-striped tile. Abundant seating is supplied by a cushioned walnut banquette bench backed up to the island, anchoring an entirely custom dining-height table: a shapely brass base with a glass mosaic and resin tabletop. Three brass and fabric stools tuck under the island, while six walnut chairs with donut-shaped backs encircle the table.
