We had a great time staging this brand new two story home in the Laurentians, north of Montreal. The view and the colors of the changing leaves was the inspiration for our color palette in the living and dining room. We actually sold all the furniture and accessories we brought into the home. Burlanes were commissioned to design, create and install a functional family kitchen, in keeping with the luxurious style of the rest of the family home. The family had recently moved into a new build and the kitchen design just was not working for their busy family life. In this beautiful French Manor style home, we renovated the kitchen and butler’s pantry and created an office space and wet bar in a hallway. The black granite countertops and white cabinets are beautifully offset by black and gray mosaic backsplash behind the range and gold pendant lighting over the island. The huge window opens like an accordion, sliding completely open to the back garden. An arched doorway leads to an office and wet bar hallway, topped with a barrel ceiling and recessed lighting. This section of the kitchen has a tall oven stack, a convenient food larder, and glass-fronted dressers. The cabinets, designed in a classic shaker style, evoke a timeless appeal that effortlessly blends with any decor. Adorned with burnished brass handles, they exude a touch of warmth and sophistication. Every element in this well-thought-out space harmoniously combines practicality and aesthetics, whilst providing ample storage. We made use of the tall ceilings in our client's home by adding small cabinets on top of the tall cabinets, creating a visually pleasing focal point. The cabinets are painted in BTWN Dog & Wolf (Paint & Paper Library) and the handles are from the Crossways range by Armac Martin.

The plan started by changing the awkward island shape into a large rectangle with seating for four. The old "busy" granite was replaced by a black contemporary granite around the periphery and a stunning quartzite stone on the island.

Open concept kitchen/ living / dining. Transom window back splash with cement tiles. Custom cabinetry was designed to flow with the entire home. A stained wood bulk head was installed above the cabinetry in place of a traditional bulk head. The generous island in the center of the kitchen adds more of the farmhouse feel with "X" details on either side and a front face stained to match the bulk head.
