Split Level 1970 home of a young and active family of four. The main public spaces in this home were remodeled to create a fresh, clean look. The Jack + Mare demo'd the kitchen and dining room down to studs and removed the wall between the kitchen/dining and living room to create an open concept space with a clean and fresh new kitchen and dining with ample storage. Now the family can all be together and enjoy one another's company even if mom or dad is busy in the kitchen prepping the next meal. The custom white cabinets and the blue accent island (and walls) really give a nice clean and fun feel to the space. The island has a gorgeous local solid slab of wood on top. A local artisan salvaged and milled up the big leaf maple for this project. In fact, the tree was from the University of Portland's campus located right where the client once rode the bus to school when she was a child. So it's an extra special custom piece! (fun fact: there is a bullet lodged in the wood that is visible...we estimate it was shot into the tree 30-35 years ago!) The 'public' spaces were given a brand new waterproof luxury vinyl wide plank tile. Transitional style kitchen for a unique vactaion home in beautiful Litchfield County in CT. Working with the angles of the ceiling we created plenty of storage for this client in their second home. We took advantage of all of the natural light coming into the space by using light and white for the uppers and at the same time incorporating contrast with a beautiful shade of green and classic black quartz countertops. This kitchen is now a timeless space for years to come.

This 100 year old West Chester PA home was in need of a serious facelift. We started by taking out a wall, enlarging the openings to the hall and dining room, and moving the entry to the powder room. Now with the new larger space we designed a great new kitchen with an island. The clients chose Fabuwood cabinetry in the Galaxy Horizon door style for its grey tones and clean lines. A new back entry door with sidelights that open and new windows were installed. Mannington Adura luxury vinyl tiles in graphite and steel were installed in the main kitchen area and Mannington Platinum series vinyl sheet goods in Filigree iron was installed in the new powder room. Uptown plain 3x12 tile with coffee bean grout were used to give the kitchen a touch of that old period look of this 100 year old home.

The kitchen was originally planned to mimic the location of appliances in her current kitchen to minimize re-learning of appliance locations. The only change was adding a trash cabinet between the fridge and the sink. A french door fridge allows someone in a wheelchair to easily access frozen and cold foods, while the water and ice dispenser on the outside of the door make it easy to stay hydrated rather than using the sink each time. She can roll up to the kitchen sink due to the recessed cabinetry under the sink or stand at counter height to put away dishes from the dishwasher. The dishwasher is ADA and very simple to use , and is raised off the floor so whether she is sitting or standing it's easier to reach. The gas cooktop has controls at the front making it easy to reach from the wheelchair and the exhaust fan above also has a control at the front. All cabinet door handles are D-shape, which makes them easy to grasp and there is plenty of electric outlets for charging phones, computers and small appliances. The kitchen island is table height at 30" so meal prep can be easily done in a wheelchair while guests and can be seated in a chair or wheelchair around the island. The dining chairs can also be turned around to add extra seating in the living room area. Pendant lights above the kitchen island light up the space, while recessed lighting in the kitchen and living room provide overall room lighting. There is also under cabinet lighting which makes the room glow at night! Wainscoting made of commercial grade material is strategically placed on sharp corners and exposed walls to reduce and minimize damage from the wheel chair, while creating a finished and complete look! We selected a free standing microwave to sit below the island, which is easy to use and is the same style as in her previous apartment. The island is 48" from the appliance wall, leaving ample space to open doors and maneuver around in the wheelchair and has easy access to the laundry area as well. We eliminated the pocket doors that had been in front of the laundry area for easy access, and since it was exposed, dressed it up with coordinating tile to the kitchen with additional cabinets above. There is a coordinating quartz counter on top of the washer and dryer for folding laundry or storing additional supplies.

In this kitchen, Siteline Cabinetry in the Walton shaker door style with the Toffee stain finish was installed. The countertop is MSI Calacatta Valentin quartz with a standard edge treatment with a Transolid Stainless Steel Sink and Moen Spot Resist Stainless faucet. The tile backsplash is 3x12 irregular subway tile by Anatolia Marlow collection. An Elmwood Park collection pendant light over the island and a mini chandelier in Brushed Nickel. On the floor is 18x18 Flex Corinthia in the Amber color Luxury Vinyl Tile.

We expanded the size of the kitchen by removing a large peninsula that cut off the living space from the kitchen. We added a functional Island with plenty of seating and closed off a wall in the previous eating area to have a continuous wall where we can center this beautiful commercial range.
