This classic traditional kitchen works perfect in this Tudor home. The previous kitchen was knotty pine and very country. Our client was looking for a modern kitchen that would fit with the traditional exterior of the home. The white perimeter cabinets we took to the ceiling and stacked for a clean line and maximum storage. The large island is perfect for prep work and serving a large buffet when entertaining. The paneled appliances keep the kitchen clean and blend into the adjoining cabinetry. A few special details we included are the pull-out shelves in the built-in pantry, for easy access to the items that usually get lost in the back, and a shallow top drawer under the cooktop, for utensils. This kitchen is perfect for our client.

Working on this modern kitchen design gave me great pleasure. Unique flat-panel door, integrated and paneled high-end appliances, quartz counters, lacquered and wood veneer finishes, are just a few attributes of this stunning kitchen. Many intricate details, handle-less design, ample modern storage, elevated this kitchen to be one of my favorites projects.

The kitchen island features a traditional enameled cast iron undermount sink with an ornate gooseneck faucet. The main wall of cabinetry has extra tall uppers with sleek recessed panel doors, decorative craftsman support brackets, and a gray subway tile backsplash with a herringbone detail insert behind the Wolf range. Louis Poulsen lights are like birds flitting above the work space. The new window to the left of the induction cooktop brings in an amazing amount of light and provides mountain views. The last three pictures on this project are the BEFORE pics that will show you how this room was begging to be opened up.

The builder we partnered with for this beauty original wanted to use his cabinet person (who builds and finishes on site) but the clients advocated for manufactured cabinets - and we agree with them! These homeowners were just wonderful to work with and wanted materials that were a little more "out of the box" than the standard "white kitchen" you see popping up everywhere today - and their dog, who came along to every meeting, agreed to something with longevity, and a good warranty! The cabinets are from WW Woods, their Eclipse (Frameless, Full Access) line in the Aspen door style - a shaker with a little detail. The perimeter kitchen and scullery cabinets are a Poplar wood with their Seagull stain finish, and the kitchen island is a Maple wood with their Soft White paint finish. The space itself was a little small, and they loved the cabinetry material, so we even paneled their built in refrigeration units to make the kitchen feel a little bigger. And the open shelving in the scullery acts as the perfect go-to pantry, without having to go through a ton of doors - it's just behind the hood wall!

We removed the wall between the family room and kitchen. We left the post in place and surrounded it with panels to match the cabinets.
