Everything Home

Our Carmel design-build studio was tasked with organizing our client’s basement and main floor to improve functionality and create spaces for entertaining. In the basement, the goal was to include a simple dry bar, theater area, mingling or lounge area, playroom, and gym space with the vibe of a swanky lounge with a moody color scheme. In the large theater area, a U-shaped sectional with a sofa table and bar stools with a deep blue, gold, white, and wood theme create a sophisticated appeal. The addition of a perpendicular wall for the new bar created a nook for a long banquette. With a couple of elegant cocktail tables and chairs, it demarcates the lounge area. Sliding metal doors, chunky picture ledges, architectural accent walls, and artsy wall sconces add a pop of fun. On the main floor, a unique feature fireplace creates architectural interest. The traditional painted surround was removed, and dark large format tile was added to the entire chase, as well as rustic iron brackets and wood mantel. The moldings behind the TV console create a dramatic dimensional feature, and a built-in bench along the back window adds extra seating and offers storage space to tuck away the toys. In the office, a beautiful feature wall was installed to balance the built-ins on the other side. 自宅に仕事部屋を作るときの鉄則

自宅で仕事をしようとすると、ついつい公私混同してしまうという人も多いのでは。ホームオフィス・書斎には仕事とプライベートのオン・オフの切り替えができるような設計が必要です。メリハリをもたせるためには、どこで仕事とプライベートのスイッチを切り替えるかというのも大事。リビングスペースとつながる廊下に足を踏み入れたり、ドアを開けたりすることで、プライベートな空間と時間への切り替えを意識させることもできますし、離れや屋根裏・ロフトなど目の届きにくい別空間にホームオフィス・書斎を設定することで、仕事部屋を物理的に切り離すという方法もあります。

打ち合わせ目的のホームオフィス・書斎

打ち合わせなどで人と会う機会が多い仕事の場合、同居する家族と来客が鉢合わせる可能性も高まります。また、トイレや洗面所など、家族も利用するところを頻繁に来客者が利用するとなると、家族のプライバシー問題も気になるところです。日中のに人の出入りが激しいのであれば、玄関やトイレは来客用に別に設計する、リビング・ダイニングなどを横切らないでスマートにホームオフィス・書斎に入れるようにするなど、家族との動線を分けて、双方にとって気持ちよく利用できるスペースにしたいですね。
