The Back Bay House is comprised of two main structures, a nocturnal wing and a daytime wing, joined by a glass gallery space. The daytime wing maintains an informal living arrangement that includes the dining space placed in an intimate alcove, a large country kitchen and relaxing seating area which opens to a classic covered porch and on to the water’s edge. The nocturnal wing houses three bedrooms. The master at the water side enjoys views and sounds of the wildlife and the shore while the two subordinate bedrooms soak in views of the garden and neighboring meadow. To bookend the scale and mass of the house, a whimsical tower was included to the nocturnal wing. The tower accommodates flex space for a bunk room, office or studio space. Materials and detailing of this house are based on a classic cottage vernacular language found in these sorts of buildings constructed in pre-war north america and harken back to a simpler time and scale. Eastern white cedar shingles, white painted trim and moulding collectively add a layer of texture and richness not found in today’s lexicon of detail. The house is 1,628 sf plus a 228 sf tower and a detached, two car garage which employs massing, detail and scale to allow the main house to read as dominant but not overbearing. We added chequerboard floor tiles, wall lights, a zellige tile splash back, a white Shaker kitchen and dark wooden worktops to our Cotswolds Cottage project. Interior Design by Imperfect Interiors Armada Cottage is available to rent at www.armadacottagecotswolds.co.uk

This is one of our favorite kitchen projects! We started by deleting two walls and a closet, followed by framing in the new eight foot window and walk-in pantry. We stretched the existing kitchen across the entire room, and built a huge nine foot island with a gas range and custom hood. New cabinets, appliances, elm flooring, custom woodwork, all finished off with a beautiful rustic white brick.

This bespoke barn conversion project was designed in Davonport Tillingham, shaker-style cabinetry. With the 4.5m-high ceiling, getting the proportions of the furniture right was crucial. We used 3D renders of the room to help us decide how much we needed to increase the height of each element. By maintaining the features such as the old timber door from the gable; as the new door into the snug – it added character and charm to the scheme.

By taking over the former butler's pantry and relocating the rear entry, the new kitchen is a large, bright space with improved traffic flow and efficient work space.

This kitchen features an island focal point.The custom countertop shows stunning color and grain from Sapele, a beautiful hardwood. The cabinets are made from solid wood with a fun Blueberry paint, and a built in microwave drawer.
