Light counters and a thoughtfully selected backsplash ensure a bright and inviting atmosphere. The intelligent layout separates the work zones, allowing for seamless workflow, while the strategic placement of the island seating around three sides ensures ample space and prevents any crowding. A larger window positioned above the sink not only floods the kitchen with natural light but also provides a picturesque view of the surrounding environment. We chose Red Dragon granite for the countertops. A soft-turquoise glass backsplash picks up on the same color flecks in the granite.

We worked to create a base of warm neutrals for the hard surfaces in the home - dark joinery, earthy exterior paint colours, smoked oak floors, milky white walls and ceilings. We then added layers of colour and texture, anchored with accents of black. Richly-toned fabrics in weaves, velvet, wools and jacquard, combined with blackened timber, aged oak and steel. Contemporary sleek styles sit alongside traditional designs - creating a home with a distinctive character, that’s comfortable in its rural setting, yet has a definite stylish edge - and very much reflective of our clients’ fun, warm and creative personalities.

Pull-out shelves to each side of the range provide convenient storage for oils, spices and other baking and cooking ingredients. Design and photos by Kustom Home Design.

The high-BTU gas cooktop located in the island is serviced by a ceiling mounted ventilation hood that removes cooking odors and grease from the kitchen, exhausting them outside so the air in the kitchen is kept clean.

This complete gut and remodel successfully transformed this 1980s home from traditional and dated to warm and modern. We removed the crown molding, wallpaper, shutters, cabinets and flooring. Starting with a clean slate, we painted the beams the same color of the ceiling, re-textured the walls, and added lighting. We redesigned the cabinets, using a slab door and drawer front with vertical grain uppers and horizontal grain lowers. Utilizing drawers throughout, shortening the peninsula, and incorporating a counter depth refridgerator, improved the flow and function. Selecting warm neutral colors inhanced created a beautiful back drop for art. Michael Hunter Photography
