Brunswick Parlour transforms a Victorian cottage into a hard-working, personalised home for a family of four. Our clients loved the character of their Brunswick terrace home, but not its inefficient floor plan and poor year-round thermal control. They didn't need more space, they just needed their space to work harder. The front bedrooms remain largely untouched, retaining their Victorian features and only introducing new cabinetry. Meanwhile, the main bedroom’s previously pokey en suite and wardrobe have been expanded, adorned with custom cabinetry and illuminated via a generous skylight. At the rear of the house, we reimagined the floor plan to establish shared spaces suited to the family’s lifestyle. Flanked by the dining and living rooms, the kitchen has been reoriented into a more efficient layout and features custom cabinetry that uses every available inch. In the dining room, the Swiss Army Knife of utility cabinets unfolds to reveal a laundry, more custom cabinetry, and a craft station with a retractable desk. Beautiful materiality throughout infuses the home with warmth and personality, featuring Blackbutt timber flooring and cabinetry, and selective pops of green and pink tones. The house now works hard in a thermal sense too. Insulation and glazing were updated to best practice standard, and we’ve introduced several temperature control tools. Hydronic heating installed throughout the house is complemented by an evaporative cooling system and operable skylight. The result is a lush, tactile home that increases the effectiveness of every existing inch to enhance daily life for our clients, proving that good design doesn’t need to add space to add value.

Une belle et grande maison de l’Île Saint Denis, en bord de Seine. Ce qui aura constitué l’un de mes plus gros défis ! Madame aime le pop, le rose, le batik, les 50’s-60’s-70’s, elle est tendre, romantique et tient à quelques références qui ont construit ses souvenirs de maman et d’amoureuse. Monsieur lui, aime le minimalisme, le minéral, l’art déco et les couleurs froides (et le rose aussi quand même!). Tous deux aiment les chats, les plantes, le rock, rire et voyager. Ils sont drôles, accueillants, généreux, (très) patients mais (super) perfectionnistes et parfois difficiles à mettre d’accord ? Et voilà le résultat : un mix and match de folie, loin de mes codes habituels et du Wabi-sabi pur et dur, mais dans lequel on retrouve l’essence absolue de cette démarche esthétique japonaise : donner leur chance aux objets du passé, respecter les vibrations, les émotions et l’intime conviction, ne pas chercher à copier ou à être « tendance » mais au contraire, ne jamais oublier que nous sommes des êtres uniques qui avons le droit de vivre dans un lieu unique. Que ce lieu est rare et inédit parce que nous l’avons façonné pièce par pièce, objet par objet, motif par motif, accord après accord, à notre image et selon notre cœur. Cette maison de bord de Seine peuplée de trouvailles vintage et d’icônes du design respire la bonne humeur et la complémentarité de ce couple de clients merveilleux qui resteront des amis. Des clients capables de franchir l’Atlantique pour aller chercher des miroirs que je leur ai proposés mais qui, le temps de passer de la conception à la réalisation, sont sold out en France. Des clients capables de passer la journée avec nous sur le chantier, mètre et niveau à la main, pour nous aider à traquer la perfection dans les finitions. The natural light that the existing transom style windows provide into the space, were being under utilized. By expanding the shower space and having two sides wrapped in custom glass the light now reaches every corner of the bathroom and makes the larger footprint shower much more comfortable and enjoyable to use. By upgrading to a custom tiled curb-less shower floor, the whole space also appears larger while providing barrier free accessibility.

A beautifully design ensuite bathroom with blue glazed herringbone tile extending from the shower wall into the dry area of the bathroom. A "wood" style tile is seen in the lit shower niche. A shower bench has been created with the same white wall tile seen on the opposing walls, and topped with the same tile as seen on the bathroom floor, creating a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing feel. The black floating vanity with wooden cut out adds a modern element to the entire room.

Open to the Primary Bedroom & per the architect, the new floor plan of the en suite bathroom & closet features a strikingly bold cement tile design both in pattern and color, dual sinks, steam shower with a built-in bench, and a separate WC.

Direction Ventabren, un petit village situé à proximité d’Aix-en-Provence pour découvrir un projet tout frais récemment livré par notre agence MCH Provence. Les propriétaires de cette résidence secondaire ont acheté la maison sur plan et ont fait appel à nos équipes pour la transformer en un lieu chaleureux et #convivial, idéal pour les réunions familiales. Notre architecte ayant dessiné les cloisons et conçu les plans intérieurs de la maison, il était absolument nécessaire de suivre le chantier de près afin de s’assurer de la bonne exécution des travaux par le constructeur. L’électricité, le placo et les sols ayant été faits, nous avons pris plaisir à jouer avec les couleurs et aménager les différents espaces.
