This sun filled living room in western New Jersey became the showcase for a Somerset county estate. The miniature baby grande piano at the end of the room looked over views of the side yard. A lighter pallette of creamy whites and golden yellows was used in the silk covered chairs and the contemporary white sofa. Artwork was the selection used from the private collection of the owners.

This view of the grand piano shows the beautiful tones of the wood and the dramatic impact it gives to the space. We carefully blended the wood tones of the furniture we added to the room to create continuity, and added custom drapery and a hand-tufted wool rug in shades of cream and gold. A display area was created for guitar instruments in the home office so it became an inspiring space to both work and enjoy the homeowner's hobby. His prized possessions are showcased while also offering easy access to play. The low chairs without arms were selected to be ideal for comfortable guitar-playing. Display shelving is retrofitable if the owners decide to move or eventually want to change the function of the room; extra shelving can be put in to create open bookcases. The neutral color palette of the room complements the feel of the rest of the home and allows for the guitars to shine as the focal point. The large desk provides ample work space to accommodate the TV and two computers needed for trading.

A section of the layout is cleverly created for the piano room. Using the bay window to create an extra desk, the owner owns a cozy and private little space to indulge in music / craft-makng.

The client admired this Victorian home from afar for many years before purchasing it. The extensive rehabilitation restored much of the house to its original style and grandeur; interior spaces were transformed in function while respecting the elaborate details of the era.
