Flat frameless skylight

Can you have a single pane of glass sitting on an upstand on a flat roof as a skylight? The builders have done this and glass hasn't been fixed with silicone etc. (Frameless)

What do you mean sitting on the roof? Does it have an upstand? Is it on a tilt to let water run off.

We have two glass skylights in our flat roof but they do not sit directly on the glass, the builders built an upstand about 25cm high and then the glass sits on top of that. And the glass is double glazed and in a frame to protect it. And it’s on a tilt.

What you’re describing, if I’ve understood correctly, sounds like a bodge. A leaky bodge. Do you have a picture?

You do need the glass to have a slope so that rain runs off.

See the pics of the inside and outside for what it’s supposed to look like.

It is always possible that what you currently have is a temporary solution until your actual glazing arrives.

Hi both thanks photo below. The roof does have a slight pitch, just a single pane of glass.

I'd expect a double glazed sealed unit at the least
