roofing material under deck

Hi,
I would like to build a deck over my garage. The current roof would have to be cut down level with addition on the back of my house, therefore reducing the size of the garage door height. The reason it would have to be level with the addition is so there can be a door level with the deck floor.
One suggestion I received was to install a metal roof with a slight pitch that the deck would be built over it.
Here’s the current situation.

What are your suggestions?
