Hello! The entire first step of this pool is intentionally shallow, it is a platform that leads to two other steps that service the pool. The initial step is a wading area for children and adults, as well as a platform where lounge chairs can sit with only the legs in the water -- but where the water is easily accessible for the sunbather to pour onto their body. There are also sitting ledges flanking the steps. Ledges allow the guest to be submerged but not have to stand or swim to remain in the water. It's tremendously hot in Florida where this home is located. This pool configuration allows swimmers to enjoy laps and swim/frolic in the pool while also offering spaces that accommodate people who may be too young, less athletic, or who may not know how to swim at all, but who still want to enjoy the water.
