@mama goose_gw zn6OH, no explanation for the wall. The house is 100 years old and has had very respectful updates. It looks like a cased opening that was closed off when a second bath was added and instead of removing the detail of the casing they left it as a feature. Kind of a neat idea in this really cute and well-built bungalow...and has now become a wonderful feature with a nod to its past.

As a true Irishman, I cannot imagine using the space for anything but my vast collection of single malts. But, you did a beautiful job. Nicely done.

Beautiful! My brother's vintage apartment kitchen had a built-in ironing board, board was long gone, so he put in shelves for his spices.

Those old ironing board alcoves make lovely storage for cups and mugs. In a former house I put the built-in coffeemaker right next to the alcove and had instant storage for coffee in bags and an almost unlimited number of mugs and cups.

I love it! It looks really good and will be so useful.
