We located the components for this home around the corner in a rack. The remote system runs on radio waves and not IR, so there is no need to point the remote directly at the equipment. It cleans up the family room décor and makes it a lot nicer for getting to the DVD and Movie Server as they are at chest height. Great Question, Thanks
