Need to order furniture for great room with large windows looking out on lake view (see sketches). We already own two low hotel chairs we plan to put in front of windows.

Dilemma about arrangement. With size of rug planned (broadloom custom cut to 13 x 16), we have a couple of options that would preserve seating facing lake and that facing fireplace/TV. (TV wall is recessed 12" compared to fireplace wall, but TV swings out into room). See sketches.

PLEASE ignore colors and patterns in sketch...NOT the patterns planned.

One option is to put two sofas in "L" configuration (first sketch).

Second option is to replace one sofa with a love seat (second sketch). This would permit enough space for a fireside chair.

Option two seems a bit more balanced, but would require the rug come to 12" from fireplace. Also, the fireside chair would also largely cover up the fireplace surround on that side (picture of fireplace wall attached).

With option one which looks less balanced to me, we could shrink the rug such that it is 24" from fireplace, which is the same distance it will be from the windows.,,perhaps less furniture is more?

Opinion on either of these...or another option???
