Velvet is everywhere in fashion still and I have seen lots of bedding and cushions incorporating velvet. The high street has velvet throws and velvet undies so I think velvet is 'in' still.
Velvet isn't going anywhere! And most importantly fabric development means the 'livability' of it is only improving as new fabrics are developed. Used a great velvet on this project recently.
But seriously, I’m sure at some stage the popularity will wane, so in that sense yes, velvet will slowly get ‘out of fashion’ but I also think there will always be a place for velvet.
Funnily enough, I’m ordering the last piece for my living room and it’s a black velvet chair! Tbh my choice has never been influenced by weather something is in or out of fashion! If I like it I buy it :-)
It so luxurious and the colours achieved are so striking. We have just digitally printed our new fabric prints onto a beautiful velvet after sampling on a variety of fabric bases, it won hands down. You can see the collection here :) - https://www.philipclay.com/soft-furnishings/
Thank you all for voting and commenting. We're happy to receive such positive comments over velvet still being in trend. We did a similar poll last year, and will probably do it again later in the year to see whether the views over this fabric will change.
@Beano - great looking Imola chair there, that is out Limited Edition in Black Velvet with Matt Black Base, only 600 being made world wide and all come with numbered plaque and certificate of authentication.
