I am looking for advice about where to start. initially want to get some idea of the plot is big enough and what chances of the local planning authority approving in the setting. who should I approach for this intial feasibility assessment?

Probably best to approach a planning consultant then an architect/architectural designer.

I am unsure as to your location, if you are Bath (or Shrewsbury) based I can recommend some planning consultants.

If the the planning consultants agree its feasible in outline they will suggest you get some planning drawings created, hence the architect/designer.
