Hi There and sorry for my delay. The branches are real branches that were placed in a tall glass vase that was standing on the floor. The height of the vase was approximately 30" high, and was weighted down with real pebbles (stone) placed carefully in the vase, and then the branches were placed in the vase, with the base of the branches being pushed into the gravel to hold them in place
