There are few tricks that I recommend to my clients to dress up a long walkway without breaking the bank.

1. Transform it into an art/photo gallery. The more you put on the better! You can use your own photos or affordable reproductions and use kmart/Ikea frames. Pick a theme (beach, cities, family, black&white) and use frames of diffrent sizes but same style and colour.

2. Add some drama using dark pain. This will add elegance and character to the space with a wow factor.

3. Create effects using paint. Half painted walls and "artistic walls " are very easy to do, don't cost much and bring immediate effect

A console that is proportionate to the wall space. Large artwork hung at eye level. Favourite vase with flowers. Mirror above console or on opposite wall. Tall plant. Hall way carpet runner. In my opinion the size and style of your current console and mirror do not fit into space.

I would replace your current console with something more proportionate to the space as dreamer suggested, a buffet could look gorgeous and add a bit of glamour, a beautiful mirror and some special pieces could look stunning
