Sliding Doors vs. French Doors

6年前

Hi,

I have a 16 foot opening on an addition we are doing.

The house is a tudor style home but has a transitional feel.

Do I go with a 16 foot slider (in 4 foot panels) with mullions to make a 2x2 grid or do I do a set of 3 french doors (5 feet each opening)?

Any thoughts?

Is there a difference in using vinyl or aluminum on the sliders? Will anyone notice the difference?

Thanks for the reply. What about the material being used? Vinyl vs. Aluminum?

"Aluminum is a much better choice."

    Why is that?

Where is the home, what colors are you looking at, do you require a wood or "woodlike" interior?

French doors need space to open so think about that . Since the house is a “tudor” style french doors to me would be a better choice , wood would be my choice or aluminum clad wood and IMO no mullions

    do you mean muntins?

Mullion/muntin: A mullion is a heavy vertical or horizontal member between adjoining window units. Muntins are the narrow strips of wood that divide the individual panes of glass in a traditional sash.
