Fiberglass Door, to paint or not to paint?

The front door to my house is fiberglass (HD special), would love to paint in a different color. Any suggestions? has anyone out there has successfully done it? results

Fiberglass doors usually come with sticker attached saying they have to be top coated. They arent raw fiberglass and are already pre primed so there should be zero adhesion issues.

If they are have embossed woodgrain they sell kits to make the door look like wood. It is basically a base tan color then an application of get stain with a stiff brush. Honestly it is very convincing when done. I believe Old Masters sells the kit anti even is recommended by Truline? doors. Super easy for a DIY and you will be amazed at how much it looks like wood.

If you are painting a color or have no texture then just buy a good exterior trim paint, pick a color and go at it.

I have a fiberglass door, smooth finish. You need to have it done professionally IMO, by a competent painter. I got a recommendation from a door company. The painting area should be enclosed ( via plastic tenting or whatever) to achieve a dust free finish.

They are made to be painted, so pick your color and get to painting.

You can't just "pick your color & get to painting " with fiberglass. I suggest you research online before you DIY, it's not the same as painting a wood door...

Whether it's a new pre-primed door or a previously painted one, give it a light sanding with a sanding sponge or some 120 grit paper (recommended for painted door), clean dust off and apply 2 coats of a quality paint in your choice of color. There's no difference in painting a fiberglass door from a wood door.
